Appropriate weapons for a Nerf war?

Post  Kit Kat 1407 on Mon May 24, 2010 9:45 am

I hope that this is in the right section, if not please notify me.

Anyway, I was wondering what an appropriate Nerf gun would be for a Nerf war.
I already have a maverick but feel that it is a little small and underpowered.
I was thinking perhaps a Recon or something similar.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Uh this probably should have gone in the Nerf War (Edit: Actually the questions thread) section but nevermind. A recon like a Maverick is low powered. For a nerf war you want something like a bigblast, Signal Launcher, Longshot, Nite Finder, Dart Tag gun (lower powered) or a wipeout.

    Thanks,

Thanks for your input, the problem is in Melbourne, I don't have a clue where to purchase these. All we seem to have down here are Nightfinders and Mavericks..... But thanks again, I'll do some research.

Many of these guns can be purchased at a K-mart or Toys R Us store. If you have no luck at any of these stores check the user Inf0rm3r's sale thread. Also if you are looking for available guns check the last pages of the 'Available Blasters in Australia' thread.

If you want a beast of a gun...I recommend a +Bow. But first you need the money.

Longshots where only stocked in Toy World stores and you'd be VERY lucky to find one now. I bought one at Toy World just before Christmas but they are very rare now.

    Good Luck,

If other Toys R Us stores have not stocked LS's I highly doubt they'll have any.

well I'll take a look around, I think you guys are right, I highly doubt I'll be able to get a Longshot, I've heard that Toys R us in Doncaster has a heap of Nerf, I'll see what they have in stock.

Most people usually bring along both a "Primary" and a "Secondary". Primary is usually a larger weapon, with good range and power, and the Secondary is usually a smaller weapon, that can quickly spit out a couple shots, keeping the opposition's head down while you reload your primary.

Ok, so, my Maverick can be my secondary, but I still need a primary, I was thinking about a Longstrike.....If any shops sell them around here, (I will be giving Doncaster TRU
    a call tomorrow.)
Is the Longstrike any good? I know compared to a Longshot it's not great, as it uses a reverse plunger system but I would like to hear some opinions.

It sucks. Get a Big Blast or Triple Shot. They're both easy to modify, but give off fantastic results.

    Generally you need a:
Primary: Good Range, good ROF (clips,Drum Mag) and you would want to make it comfortable for for.
Secandary: A smaller gun, usually a pistol with decent range but not necessarily with a good ROF. Something you can just grab out of your pocket or holster to make the ememy hide while you reload your primary.
Back-up: Some people have a back-up weapon but's it your desicion and it's another gun to carry.
You also need lots of ammo.

Nah, forget the longstrike altogether. Granted, it looks pretty sweet, but due to the similarities with the recon, you have to do some considerable mods to get even average ranges. If you can score one, a Longshot looks the goods, and can modded into an absolute cannon! Failing that, a Triple Shot is a great gun, and easy to mod.

    Good Luck

    Key word(s): Ammo and ROF

I often run out of ammo so it is vital to keep a good ammount at all times. Please don't use a singled Big Blast. I died. You probably will to. I now use a 9 shot RSCB. Works like a charm.

Primaries: Tripple Shot, Longshot(OVERHAULED), Big Blast, Titan, Big Bad Bow, AT2k or AT3k (If you can get you hands on one!) or a SGSL. You want to single them (Shit ROF),give them a RSCB or completly overhaul it.

Secondary: Maverick, NiteFinder, Crossfire or a DTB. Overhaul them.

This is concerning poisons post above.

I'd probably agree considering your in Melbourne. Wait, take me seriously.
In Melbourne, the vast majority of guns are shorter ranged and higher rate of fire, just because of the way it has evolved as a community. In adelaide, theres alot of titans, and other high powered guns that don't shoot quick. I I used my BBBB, I would probably be in the medium reload section, and only really get rushed by a few people. I'd recommend a longshot keeping this in mind. If you can find one of these try a triple shot, but keep the turret(and give it rear loading).

Spy Gear Signal Launcher. Same internals as a Big Blast, but bigger tank and front pump.

    My vote/loadout is:
Primary: Longshot with longstrike barrel extension and bayonet.
    Secondary: magstrike.
Tertiary: either Furyfire OR homemade Spear.
and maybe a scatterblast in there somewhere.

I agree with Jason Splosionman, Because your in Melbourne you will definatley want something with decent ROF for when you are inevetibly rushed by around twenty people with stock Mavs.

More than 3 quarters of us have modified blasters. Only the new players have stock blasters. We are gaining on Adelaide faster than you think. Did you get 700 people to HvZ? No.

To be honest I think the only half decent gun I'll be able to find is a recon.....
But I long for a Longshot (no pun intended)......I guess i'll just have to keep an eye out for the rest of the week, I'm trying to get ready for HvsZ this weekend.
Thanks for all of your help, it is greatly apreciated.

If its an issue you can borrow my triple shot. It hits good ranges. Good ROF. You should be set with it.

HvZ isn't really nerf. Its HvZ with nerf guns as a part of play. And also, there are alot more experienced nerfers with more guns. So don't think you'll be passing adelaide gun wise any time soon.

Anyway, saying that you have lots of short range guns wasn't a stab at your community. its just the way its evolved, like there are more longshots than titans in Melbourne, the opposite of adelaide (as screwed up as that is).

You just had to provoke them didn't you biggles.

I would highly recommend the triple shot I bought mine for $30 at toys r us [they have a LOT of them in Sydney TrU stores]

Here are some guides I've been reading to mod mine... thought might save you some time searching all over the net.

    Triple shot basics:
