Recon or Raider? Empty Recon or Raider?

Post  Comrade Thu Jul 29, 2010 2:42 pm

    Hi everybody!
For a primary I'm tossing up between a raider (for the drum and the epicness of shotgun v zombies) or a recon (can be customized, rifle-ee). I know the LS is meant to be good, but I don't like that sort of weapon as such. I would also steer clear of batteries for price and that they can run out in the middle of a firefight.
So I've narrowed it down to raider and the recon. So what should I use?

Also if it helps my secondary/sidearm is a Maverick.

    THANKS!

Both, you will need the raider for its drum mag, and the recon cause it is easier to mod.

Raider, I moded both and it came out the clear winner.

    OK

    AS STOCK

The recon is good as a side arm but for all its add ons and 'bling' that comes with it chances are you won't use them 90% of the time.

The 'laser' pointer is pretty bad unless you about 2 meters away and if your that close you should be able to hit them with out it.

The flip up sight is useless as the nature of darts make them inherently inaccurate. It might be good for long long range targeting but after trying to get it to be somewhat useful on my modded longshot (and failing due to above dart problem) ive never used it.

The stock as most people would have said before me is half and half, useful to hold spare clips but flimsy as anything possably could be modifiyed to be stiffer is you swapped out the plastic gray rods with metal. as for the clip holding part its actually quite difficult to use in the middle of battle and can sometimes get stuck so bad youll have to pull the stock off to get it out.

That being said its actually quite a good pistol in stock form as its small, takes the N-strike clips (ie the 6 round, drum mags and hopefully soon 18 round clips) and can be kept in a fairly largish pocket for those "oh crap" moment

    THE RAIDER

Ok while the raider is lacking in the extras department, you can fit eveything that uses the railsystem (ie the stuff from the raider eta eta) onto it but chances are you wont use any of it.
One thing that is a bonus for the raider is the stock standed range is actually better (generally) than the reacon and the 35 round drum makes for the lack of accuracy that i had somewhat a moot point(meaning youll get more rounds off before the otherguy and wont have to reload unless they have a drum or a vulcan).

The downside is the size its fairly bit and somewhat lopsided (due to the drum hanging off the side not the bottom) to use at first. If your right handed the drum can sometimes get in the way of rapid fire pumping

another downside is untill they start selling the drums in toyworld, toys r us eta youll either be buying them off ebay or buying multple raiders to collect drums.

First of all, neither a raider or a recon is a competitive primary in a war. That aside, I believe the raider is the superior option, because it has the same internals as a recon, but with the drum mag, and also the rapid fire option.
