    CAD/CAM Services Empty CAD/CAM Services

    Post  matt.chopper Wed Nov 03, 2010 12:41 pm

I have learnt to use a CAD program called Catia through a school program. This part design process gives a CNC router code to the cut the part out.

I am willing to design any part of blasters that you want.
Depending on the size of the part the price for re-creating the part may vary. I am not going to charge very much for these services so just post in this thread if you need anything.

I will need precise measurements of the part you would like me to re-create.

Here is a picture of some of my work.(It's not finished)

    Thanks

That's cool man. Is this a one off thing, or can you have access to this whenever you want?

Also what material can you cut out of plastic and aluminium?

Can you do round stuff ie plungers and tubes?

I will be interested in some stuff, would be good to bring some samples to the war this weekend

I don't actually cut the stuff out. I design the parts for the person to cut out. I could easily take the file to a person with a router. Any material can be used in this process except for lead(lol). I can design round things and irregular shaped peices.

I also have access to a laser printer and laser cutter.
These things are not at my house but they are all free resources except for the laser printer.

You should use Pro desktop, That's what I think it's called anyway... It's a program I use at school in Graphics...It's the same concept as the program you use, but has more features, Just a suggestion.

Good work on that drawing Matt. From what i hear Catia is one of the higher-end CAD/CAM programs and and if you have the opportunity to play with it, take it as far as you can.

I can make the same drawings for people in autoCAD so if Matt is to busy to do the work, hit me up

Seeing as we're putting up CAD drawings I'll chuck up some of mine.

    Hmm...

I'm currently using SolidWorks in the RMIT engineering facilities. I'm wondering whether the file formats I use in that program will be compatible with Catia. If so, I may be requesting to have some real custom-made parts for my current projects in exchange for any other services rather than cash (namely custom-tailored catches and triggers in particular).

Catia is a lot better than that graphics program you speak of. They use this to design planes in Australia.

Hey, was wondering about a recon plunger. I would be willing to pay a fair bit for it. Please PM me or something if this will be possible.

Im not sure if all files are compatible but there is like 100 different ways to save a file on Catia. I'll look into it though.

Some kind of error or stupidity on my part has caused a double post.

    Sorry

Chrisb sells them. He has like a whole massive thread and a website about it.... Ask him

Also Matt if you make plans for anything give them to Chris. I'd say it will save him a lot of time and allow him to make more stuff for all of us.

We made those kind of cars back in high school. We hand machined them though. They are good fun.

Yeah I participate in this program. They do about 20 metres in about 1.1 seconds so I find it rather cool.

Our school is also participating in the REA F1 in Schools thingy. Matt I don't thinkt they would let you use the router in school or any place else for that matter. If you screwed it up it would have big consequences. Our school has to hire a guy in London to fix our router because one student got some measurements wrong and it went haywire ( something like that at least ). And another thing, it's easy to gte the measurements wrong in Catia and , lets say a plunger tube, how are you going to achieched the curved surfaces at that thickness, would you Edge Fillet?
