Recon CS-6 air restrictor mod - risks? Empty Recon CS-6 air restrictor mod - risks?

Post  googleplex Mon Nov 15, 2010 8:33 am

    Hi
I just bought my first nerf gun, a recon.
People have suggested that I should take the air restrictor out.
What are the chances of this damaging my gun, and how much better will it make it.
Also any other info and tips on other mods and tips for using.

    Thanks.

    Ok well
    First:welcome to the site.

Second: watch out you can get flamed for this sort of post because it is not considered as doing you research.

Third: if you havened already read the rules.

Now recon, bad idea my friend. They are ok, but they are what is considered a 'reverse plunger' that is where the whole plunger set up is literally reversed. (you really need to do research it helps allot with the lingo) So if you where to take out the air restrictor yeah in theory it would be allot better, because it creates a cleaner more open route for the airflow to travel.

    But.

As it is a reverse plunger they are pretty much prone to breaking after AR removal. By the way i am not saying it might break. I am TELLING you it WILL break just a matter of time. But if you plan on getting other guns and getting involved at wars and stuff then take out the AR's if you plan on trolling the site and being a forum lurker while never leaving the darkness of your house to go to a war then do not take them out lol.

I'd have deleted this topic and given you a week's suspension if it weren't for sitras' detailed answer. Consider yourself lucky and don't be so lazy in the future. For goodnesss sake, the recon is on sale for $24. You can afford to risk that.

I took out the AR in my recon, if you do this do what i did and pad the plunger tube. i did this by cutting out a circle from a can holder(foam) and gluing it to the bottom of of the plunger tube, if you do this and never dry fire ( you can avoid dry firing buy sticking your finger down the Barrel) your recon should not break, warning reassembling the recon is annoying.

I removed the AR and made a tough plastic reverse plunder tube and dry fired it 250+ times in a row and it did not break. I then sold it to someone in Brisbane, last I heard its still working
