    Post  TheBradl3s Mon Jan 10, 2011 5:32 am

Ok, why didnt I put this in the Picturs thread? Because I wanted some feedback on it anyway lets get started, This mornings gatherings:

    Stampede eh? Img2656c

Well, anyway, I got this idea from AJ at Adelaide first mod party, anyway, it was to minimize the shit out of a Stampede. Here it is:

    Stampede eh? Img2665hStampede eh? Img2666e

    Now some internal Pics:

    Stampede eh? Img2657fStampede eh? Img2658jpStampede eh? Img2659xw

Anyway, I hooked this up to my 12v battery with Lachlans 50ft spring and its the shizz, here's a firing video:

    Anyway, Questions, Comments, Flames?

    - Brad

PS: As I said, the reason why I made a thread for this instead of putting it in the pictures thread was because I wanted feedback on this.

That is absolutely amazing! Excellent work. That recoil is pretty cool, but would be annoying. It looks like a perfect backup pistol/primary for HvZ. Awesome job

Haha. $200 worth of stampedes. I'll be buying one a week assuming there are any left.

I was going to rage, but it's thebradl3s and your cutting up job isn't too bad, it reminds me of an SMG. Might I suggest you replacing the 'hollow' space of the minimisation with some sort of plexi sheet or something. I reckon it would look cooler. What it look like with the battery?

well, I made an extension cable for the battery and then i have it in a 'bum bag' because it fits nicely.

Hmm. I'm sure it's comfortable for you, but for me, I might find it comfortable to... even lighter! I would hate to use it with cords sticking out. Mainly because if you snag it on something. You can say good bye your wiring.

I reckon it would look cool if you had the battery stuck on there. Looks like an alien head :D.

Well, I built this gun as a rushing weapon. I could have done this with magstrike but I thought this was batter. Anyway I can tuck the cable away into the bag so it isn't very bad.

You COULD of done it to a Magstrike. However, a magstrike doesn't come with three high capacity clips does it :P. I got 7 magstrike clips, so I may do a compressor mod on it soon.

It's pretty weird looking - but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
If it was me I'd close up the big holes and use 4x14500 Li Ion batteries in it the same as on Modworks

Just a small update, I went ghetto and used an ice cream lid, cut it out and stick it on, I also cut it in half so i can open it, as cut a hole for the darts. I was originally going to use some orange PVC sheeting but I used this instead because it was easier to cut out. Now all it needs is a paintjob.

Love it. I think the battery needs to be incorporated in to the blaster though, check out Li-po battery's. Their small and have a higher current discharge for the voltage (which means a 12v Li-po fires like a 15v Li-on)

One of those babies would tuck in nicely, be light and look the part.

Thanks but I will NEVER i repeat NEVER use Li-Po in Nerf as the need high ventilation to keep them cool because if they get too hot, well, lets just say, I wont want to be turned into a flame-grilled steak

Li-PO's are kinda like Asbestos, They are really good, but have massive flaws. Where as Asbestos kills you over 30 so years, LI-PO's only explode, but if you are any were near it, you will most likely get 3rd degree burns, if not worse!

Now to every one, the reason why I didn't attach the battery was because I wanted to shred as much weight as possible so this is easy to run with and because I also use the battery in my other Stampede(s)

Ice cream lid aye. I reckon you chould make that part orange :P. But yeah at least it doesn't look like someone cut it down like in samurai movies now :D.

I just realised that when you fire it, you'll see that bolt thing go in and out. Maybe you should make the 'faux' barrel a little longer and put a muzzle flash so it looks like something and not 'unsafe'. You know what they might say, you're gonna barrel tap someone's eye out! Haha.

Man that battery set up is expensive.

I got a ghetto set up with trustfires :D. Just as light and effective!

Yeah I can see why you have it in a pouch. Although I still wouldn't prefer it because you might snag it on something and there goes your set up. You might rip something out. I guess if you're playing on an open field, it will be fine though.

Just curious Littlebro what is the trust fire set up worth in $'s and for what voltage?

Brad appears to have a 2.4ah SLA battery which retail for $25-$30.

I'm using a 1.2ah SLA which cost about the same but is have the size, weight and capacity.

The current draw appears to be very low for the stampede motor so we'll recharge the battery well before it shows any sign of discharge (3 weeks so far). This is one of the reasons I thought the Li-po would be a good fit, particularly with the cut back shell. I should note the Li-po battery is expensive and requires the correct charger also (expensive).

For the battery set up I've got. It'll cost you less than $20 to run. It's lighter and will be able to get you through about 800 rounds... My stampede has lasted about 2 wars now. Although once it drops down pass 14-15Vs it's best to go charge them.

    Charger - $8
    AA Tray - $2
    4 Trustfires - $8

It may take up to a month to be delivered though.

Sorry revo. There's this massive misconception that 'the higher the voltage' or 'faster the ROF" the stronger the dart will shoot. That is false.

How can something shoot stronger since it has a higher ROF or voltage, when it's just the same spring load of the setup? Just to clear it up lol. So even if you use lipos with a stock spring, it will not shoot further or the dart at a higher velocity.
