You probably should've included that in your first post. Accident's happen, but the way you posted, it sounded like you did it intentionally

I just wouldn't bother trying to convince.
We all have different hobbies, and not everyone can appreciate what we do enjoy in our lives.

Your friend's probably getting some kick out of your reaction to his opinion, and so, the more you try to react to these criticisms, it is more likely that you'll receive some more.
Also, the more you try to counter, the more likely you will reinforce, develop and fix his opinion (children have the tendency to not reverse, but rather galvanise their opinion, when provoked).
Maybe Nerf doesn't suit your friend at all.

By shrugging it off and making it seem irrelevant, the remark becomes a dead end topic to be quickly forgotten.
It's certainly not worth getting annoyed over.

Maybe when your friend gets bored, he may find something to do, like messing around with your Nerf guns that's just there and end up possibly enjoying it.

That's how I deal with people's opinion of my hobbies, anyways.
They end up being curious, and try to understand it a little (like perving at the contents of my collection of stuff), and accept what I do or enquire further.

LostBoy wrote:I shot him in the eye once, dont know if that counts..
Well, that's going help him dislike it.
He's going to associate the memory of that moment, with Nerf and his opinion.

So after firing out a few rounds of my recently brass breeched Longshot it started to lock and not fire.

I narrowed it down to the plunger rod not returning back to the plunger chamber all the way which in turn would not depress the trigger lock to allow the bolt sled to slide back.

I have further concluded the reason for this was because the bolt section (the bit nested in the black peice) where I have filled the deadspace with hot glue, has for some reason 'pushed out' of the glue about 2mm. Which in turn blocks the plunger head from returning completley..

So after digesting all that can anyone suggest or have advice if I can save my breech or dare I hack into the plunger head to accept the 2mm sticking out?

Did you glue the bolt in with epoxy adhesive?

I'd probably look at grinding down the end of the brass, if you can't push it back to it's original position. I would suggest not modifying the plunger head - the bond between it and the plunger rod is weak enough as it is.

With the bolt having shifted, do you still get an overlap where the breech closes on the barrel? That would be the first thing I'd consider before I tried doing anything permanent. If the bolt has moved back 2mm and you can't return it to the original position, you may need to move the barrel back as well...

I've found that using hot water, and twisting the brass, has been enough to break the bond of super-strength araldite. It just takes time and patience. Maybe it's worth removing the bolt, and re-gluing it in it's proper position.

    Just my 2 cents...

So, I went and got a 32mm bath plug and the small end of the taper is 38mm.. Is this like PVC, where they just don't really care, or are they retarded and put it in the wrong packaging?

    Tom,

Your best bet, in my opinion, would be to either buy blue foam supplies and make them yourself, or buy blue foam sili-tipped darts.

    Try this thread:

    RE: My problemo,

They're all good/helpfull idea's and I'm glad you replied clunk..

I only used hot glue ... come to think about it, is epoxy adhesive dispensed through a glue gun?

Also the bolt fits over the barrel fine still with about a 1mm overlap. I think I might have to grind the bolt back from inside the plunger chamber, darn it....

Epoxy adhesive comes out of either a syringe-style dispenser, or two separate tubes that require mixing. If you've only hot-glued it in there, you'll want to re-heat the hot glue, and remove the bolt. It has to be glued in with epoxy adhesive, or it's not going to last. Also, this is probably the easiest fix for your problem.

It could only be an admin. Maybe if you formatted it the same way as the other's I've done. Try more than one picture for a start, and add a link down the bottom back to the internal's directory. I meant to send you a PM before, but haven't got around to it.

Once that's sorted, I'll add it to the directory, which I haven't had much time to update of late. Admittedly, there's been no other pics added for me to update either.

I had a look and it wasn't up to the standard that SS usually approves. I.e. not enough pictures, not enough detail or something along those lines.

    I just addressed that issue.

I'm sure SilentScope wouldn't delete that, as it's a genuine attempt to contribute. I'm sure he would leave a comment asking for something similar to what I've listed above. With some of the drivel that's been posted on here at times, I would find it very strange if that was the case.

@ Royal86, it shouldn't be too hard to just twist the bolt out of the glue. Just remember, that you'll need to re-glue it in with epoxy, with the black piece still inside of the plunger tube. It sounds silly, but a few of us have made this mistake previously. Also, I've had a similar problem, so I can vouch that this method will work.

Oxy's on the money with the adhesive. I've had a few issues with using the last bit in the syringe, but I think that was just a one-off.

    Cheers,

Okay I'm not 100% sure about this.. so I thought I'd throw this to the OzNerf experts.

If I cut out the... 'things' inside the Vulcan belts, would it ruin it? I've heard it creates issue, I've also hear it gives some improvement...

Okay Luke - there's no governing body set up to police the quality of the internal pics. If I feel there is something lacking, I won't add it to the directory. Instead, I'll contact the OP, and ask them to add/edit, so we keep a uniform styled listing.

I think you're time would be better utilised taking some internal pics yourself, and adding them, rather than spout-off at someone who is trying to assist this site.

And I am sure that it wasn't Silent Scope..

Perhaps it was another admin that wasn't up to date with this new procedure.

We all know who this might be.

It wasn't legit it was missing the link back to the internals page and there wasn't enough Pictures!

    Cheers,

I'm with you for this one. The guy needs to stop flaming people.

    Anyways.......

Can I ask the people who use Araldite, do you use it sparingly or restock when needed?

IIRC Syringe 3 Day from Bunnings is about $11 and there is a box of 3 day which costs about $73ish

Yeh... back on track. The Araldite you should get is the super-strength 3-day version, in the smaller syringe. It's really not worth getting the massive big container of it. I've only used 2 and a half syringes in 4 months, and that's done a hell of alot of blaster's - at least 9 longshot's etc etc
