with the clips and stocks in the gun it looks like a 'normal' Nerf blaster.. except with different ammo.

Anyway I'm actually a fan of those foam ring blasters, I've got a zip shot and it's fun at short ranges

The problem with the old disk shooters was that the disks didn't go straight and not at the velocity darts go.

I wonder how easy they would be to mod... The problem is everyone is already using dart guns.

I said it in the chat 12hrs ago, "I like it for the range and the new take on an old idea, but the range is wasted when the discs are blown away in a slight breeze"

Looking forward to it though, the ranges look nice. Too bad most people don't war in 100ft warehouses

Would be good to have a permanent 'playground' for Nerfers... I was going to look into it as a potential business but the cost of a warehouse (or even a large complex) outweighs the interest, return and sustainability.

Since these are foam discs (presumed?) you probably wouldnt be able to mod them much. They either have the motorized propulsion like the baracade or a 'flicking' mechanism. The more dense/weighted the discs are, the less distance they will get, blahdi-blah-blah (sorry, lost my chain of thought and started drooling out words).

    Here's the breakdown,

    0:01 - 0:03 - flywheel stampede

0:07 - 0:09 - clip-loading springer? nitefinder style pistol on floor, stock from other gun to the left(I think )

    0:10 - 0:11 - Flywheel stampede again

0:13 - extremely brief view of all of them

0:14 - Recon-esque pump action clip loader with 100ft(or there abouts) range

*Note* I haven't watched it with sound yet so I may have missed a few small details.

Not really, they only exclaim in delight at the range/newness.

The Vortex range are more suited indoors (like inside mum and dad's house), as the projectiles are more likely to ricochet off or impact more softly, compared to darts.
Therefore, you're less likely to knock off a picture frame or a container of toothpicks, and be less worried if it hits the flat panel TV.

It won't be so good outdoors, but that's what the Dart Tag and N-Strike series are mainly for.

The range and flatter trajectory are just a side effect by having a projectile that has a geometry better suited to loiter in the air for longer and having it ejected faster.

The OH&S and public liability issues would probably kill off the whole idea, before you even factor in an economic feasibility study.

I'm actually optimistic. I think If they work the way I think they might there is a fair amount of mod potential. and If they are getting 100ft ranges out of the bos then I think we have a standard weapon line for indoor stock ars at the very least.

Remember kids nothing stops a modder.

Looks like a flimsy recon stock but I want the other one to the right.

We asked for ranges and this is what they give us?
good range, but sadly discs suck. (low velocity, in-accurate)

    anyway I told you so.

You are never going to get awsome ranges in a dart blaster. This is why we mod. These are CHILDRENS toys.

OH&S would have nothing to do with it, unless you have employees. Public Liability insurance isn't overly expensive - it costs me $2500 for my boiler-making and rigging business. On top of that, you would have all participants sign a waiver if they're over 18. Signed by legal guardians if younger.

The cash-flow situation would be the biggest hassle...

haha yeah I think people like abowden forget it's a kids toy we modify for ridiculous ranges. Peoples eyes light up when they see my singled Triple Shot - for experienced modders that's "common".

Anyway more range or not, it's more money from me to Hasbro, and it'll make a few wars more interesting. Disks may not fly straight, which means you get shoot that guy around the tree with precision

There's no point in long range if it fires slowly cause by the time it gets there the target would have moved.

Cover fire. More things for a target to thbink about while a swarm of slow flying discs is everywhere while people take botshots with the speedier darts.

Also I'm looking forward to shooting discs out of the air :p

general rule of thumb, topics older than 4 months shouldn't be replied to. If you have valuable information, PM a Mod or Admin, and they'll decide if it's warrants the necro.

All the tests that nerf do are indoor. So the wind could really effect the disk making it curve off targets.

I don't get why these disc shooters are getting so much hate. What else would you expect them to do with the dart shooting lines? How many different time can they make a recon, you know that's all wer are getting now right?

At the very least these things should be fun to play with.

Although, I am interested engineering novelty of the Vortex range, I am a tad concerned about the ammo it uses.
The discs are basically mini-frisbees or Powerade bottle caps and they don't seem easy or cheap to replicate.
Nor am I sure that it won't scratch the flat screen TV.

I have a bad feeling that the discs are going to be like razor blades for Nerf Vortex.

We'll have to wait and see.

Wise words, i do agree that these would be reallyfun, and thats all that matters. If you want ranges go for N-strike, if you want to have supercalafudgalisticexpicaladoshocios fun, go for vortex
