Sliced up 1.5 inch PVC would make nice cheap replacements. On CanadianNerfers, there's talk of using poker chips. This thing does look kinda fun. Hasbro wanted to bring out something "SAFER" but all I could think is it's a semi automatic shiruken shooter. Ninja's will now be even faster!!!

Yeah, seriously, people can glue thumbtacks to a dart, which will hurt a fair bit in your leg and you might have to get a shot for it. But people can modify these stupid rings with razor blades around the edge.

The discs are basically mini-frisbees or Powerade bottle caps and they don't seem easy or cheap to replicate.
Nor am I sure that it won't scratch the flat screen TV.

I have a bad feeling that the discs are going to be like razor blades for Nerf Vortex.

We'll have to wait and see.

I imagine making a large hole punch press and using craft rubber sheets should get the job done.

But yeah if poker chips work those things are also pretty cheap. I've gor sets of 40 for like 5 bucks. I also scored a 400 piece poker set on sale for 10 bucks once, which works out to cheaper than I can make darts for.

As a war organiser and a dart hire operator. Disk blasters are not something I look forward to, it means I need to either make/buy a heap of disks or get everyone to mark their disks. If these things somehow become popular I'll hold separate disk wars.

It would be interesting to come up with rules for the disks and darts in the same war. Still think they suck, lol. It is going to be pretty hard to replicate the discs, possibly having to cit them out of plastic sheet. It would be easy if that was it, just get a hole drill bit that was the right size and go to town.

Really dude... - what's the title of the thread?

Or do you mean are the Nerf N-Strike? If so, then they're not - they're the new Nerf Vortex series.

I saw a picture of them all on.. Urban Taggers, I think. That alone got me interested, they all look so mean. I'll probably get a couple of them, just to play with, although I'm still really disappointed that they're not dart blasters.

Also, a new topic I don't think has been discussed, how are the discs propelled? Possibilities for conversions back to darts..?

At a guess I would say slinger arm or flywheel. Everything is possible with enough effort but realisticly I have my doubts.

I'm guess it depends on the model. to is firing mechanism.
Single shot pistol im guessing a spring a "cup" method.
    Bigger range same Motor+wheel method.

    Modding:Ammo 2 Foam sheets+Washer+Plasticard might work

If you have been following this on urban taggers you would have seen this:

    The 'Nitron' Manual

    and
    The 'Proton' Manual

I find the nitron particularly interesting with the large clips and the
    'electronic' scope.

When it comes to them being safer It hasp nothing to do with thumb tacts. A stock dart could still hurt someone's eye but a disk is wider and possibly not capable of coming in contact with the eye ball.

Acceleration trigger on the Nitron ehh? Sounds like it's got flywheels in it then.

Curious about the Proton, looks like a single shot, but if so is *all* of that stuff directly forward of the trigger for propulsion?

Yeah, it will be quite loud. The more I look at it, I'd say the grey cylinder in front of the magazine is housing one of the flywheels.

Would like to be proven wrong though....

Ohh, come on.. A flying dart will hurt and could damage your sight permanently if misused, but seriously, imagine a flying razor disk. Modify the blaster, it'll shoot farther and harder, then with a little more weight to the disc, or a custom disc. You could probably make one out of, literally, razor blades and foam sheet or something.

I think things can go much worse with these.

Also, did anyone ever see the dude selling thumb tack stefans on eBay as nerf gun 'board game darts'? Nutter.

I'm super interested about the electronic scope! These look so sweet!

I just wanna see what they're doing with the scope. It looks like it's probably gonna be two different kinds of reticules you can switch to somehow.

I can't wait for these things to be ricocheting all over the place like the Ripper from Unreal Tournament

The proton looks sweet. I think that slide return lever function makes it a cool guy sort of pistol that you could just sit and play with.

Still, it's only 9v. I'm assuming this will utilise bigger/more torque motor's, so the RPM will no doubt be lower - hence, less noise/whine.

I'm definitely not saying they'll be quiet, though I doubt they'll make as much noise as 8.4v barricade - stock, that is!!

Yep still 9v, just a different amount of capacity which means that the Nitron will run out before the Stampede given that they use the same amount of amps per unit of time.

Very unfortunate that it is flywheeled though...

Disks might work better with flywheels. I think they might. the RoF would be damn impressive.

The scope on the Nitron looks pretty cool. Especially if it is a Nerf-made red-dot type scope. From the manuals, it's not an exact red dot scope, but it's close.
Any word on what the 'Mission' is yet though?

The other 2 pages of the Nitron's manual:

I took a screeshot of the Nitron's scope when it appears. Sorry for the blurriness - blame YouTube.

So the Nitron is $100 which is what hasbro wanted us to pay for the stampede when it first came out.
The Praxis is $50, the vigilon for $34, and the proton for $25.
