Sydney War - Hurstville Heritage Park - Sunday 22nd of May

Post  Synergie on Fri Apr 22, 2011 12:45 pm

When: Sunday, 22nd of May, 11:30am to 4pm.

Where: Hurstville Heritage Park, Lugarno. Navigate yourself to Forest Road, Gannons Park is in a sidestreet called Boatwright Avenue, there are other entrances to Gannons Park but they will leave you VERY far away, get yourself to HERE and you're bound to see me and my car. I suggest you get the location of this Street View image in Google Maps and use that to get directions to the war location.
A suggestion you could make to your parents who may be driving you down here is heading up to the Bowling Club which borders onto Gannons Park, while you play Nerf, you're parents could be dining up at the club, therefore turning a pointless 30minute/1hour drive into a day out for your parents.

    General Rules & Guidelines:
    • Whether I call myself an "admin" or an "organiser", my job is to arrange a day for the war and try guide participants through games, that said, I am always open to suggestions and happy to have others come on board to run games. I am an easy going person, but I like having "somewhat" organised games
    • If you are hit by a dart in ANY part of the body, you are OUT. Call out "HIT", like paintball and return to your respawn point.
    • If your gun is hit, you are OUT (Gun Hit)
    • If you hit someone and they continue to play, call them out.
    • Don't cheat in general, it's a game of tag.
    • Don't argue with the person who calls a hit on you.
    • Report to one of the organisers about a possible cheater and we will monitor them to see if they continue to do so.
    • Eye Protection is a must, you only have two eyes, try to keep them intact!
    • You are NOT allowed to pick up darts when you are dead or ‘tagged’. You can pick up darts when you are alive.
Greets to littlebro as some the rules stated here are his.

    Weapons:
    • Melee weapons are allowed IF it is made from very soft foam. If you are to meet or sneak on a player and you have no weapon, just place your hand on there shoulder to say I’ve got you.
    • Plugged weapons are banned.
    • Use common sense when considering engagement distances, don't fire point-blank to the face or neck.

Food: Since this finishes at 4pm, you have the option of eating beforehand, or I could arrange pizzas or a takeaway run. Post your preference. More details: My car is your foot locker, as long as you dont leave it dirty and/or broken, you're welcome to leave any of your gear (including valubles) in it, I'll lock it while we play games, but honestly, NO ONE goes where we are and we're playing quite close to where the car is parked (NOT MUCH WALKING!). In addition, I'll have a big esky packed with ice to put any drinks or food you might have, speaking of food, there are takeaway joints a short car trip away, as well as getting Pizza Hut delivered to my house which is a 1minute drive just up the road, I can run up there in the car and bring it down.

    Game Modes:
    • Team Deathmatch (Obviously)
    • Capture the Flag
    • Free for All
    • Pistols-only Variants
    • VIP Escort
    • Search & Destory aka Counter-Strike's "Defuse" maps aka Plant the bomb.
Games will be 10minutes in length. In the case of TDM and FFA games, teams will have 5 minutes of respawns after which, will be Sudden Death.

UPDATE: I now have 14 attendees (including myself), this will make for great 7v7 action, however I always want MORE ATTENDEES!
Confirmed Attendees: Synergie, Anthony, yeahryan + 1, SydneyNerfer, fpsscarecrow, Dan, Aidan, lolnerf, Blitzkrieg Nerf Team (5).
    "Maybe" Attendees: Twist, AkimboAssassin, Echoes
    Grounded Noobs: Xoenz

Sounds like a good idea. But for now? We try to get a warring community together. And it starts at THIS war.

Shotgun grip ?! Details please !

Hmmm, this war sounds really tempting. But I doubt I'll have all my gear + darts in check by then.

I intend to do a MASS ORDER from informer. If anyone attending this war wants something from informer, do let me know through PM. (Even if I don't go, I'm sure Synergie will drop by and pick up what needs to be distributed)

And yes, I have a few blasters I can lend out if need be.

So many possibilities. A group buy is exactly what I was looking for. But I won't be taking any action until he gets his medium weight sili-tips AND his shipment of blue foam. Their versatility is what I'm after.

    P.S.
I hate you and your shotgun grip. I will smile every time I think of your Salvo

Seven confirmed attendees plus me, which is 8, I will not run it with any less, it's not worth everyone's time, ideally I want 9 or more attendees (Plus me remember).

Bexley is pretty close actually So there's a good chance they can go. The 8yo is going to have a hard time. We'd better not swear

Synergie is a tough manly person, so there really aren't any blaster restrictions. Though I think it's best if you didn't turn up with a plugged 4B or Titan. Coz you know... if you shoot me in the neck with something like that, your nose will say "Hi!" to the reinforced end of my Longshot

I'd completely understand if you didn't come... because exams are exams. But take it from me, the only exams that really matter are the ones at the back end of year 11 and onwards, the ones that actually count toward your internal assessments that affect your ATAR (or whatever they call it nowadays).

    Have updated original post.
yeahryan wrote:Hey i might be able to make it and bring one other guy with me. Ill let you know closer to the date. Is there any restrictions on mods to guns?
As I have now added to the original post, I'm working tentatively with the assumption of no restrictions, on the proviso we use common sense on engagement distances and where we aim at those distances, if you're going to shove a 4B or Titan in my face, I won't be happy, not to mention the risk of shattering my eye protection.
Bacara wrote:Hmm, only 45mins walk from the nearest train station... I'd be interested in attending, as would two of my mates. Only problem is, we all have our Yr 11 half yearlies the next day.
Train station's around here are in fact scarce, you have two options:
    1. Catch the train to Penshurst Station and get the 943 Bus to Lugarno
    2. If I'm feeling charitable I will pick you up at Mortdale Station, the drive is only about 5-10minutes

In regard to exams, I of course can't please everyone, I could reiterate what Echoes said because in hindsight those exams mean very little but I know you want to perform well to please yourself and your parents, so do as you wish.
