    Awesome Kill cam mod!

Post  makeitgo on Fri May 20, 2011 3:20 am

All right. While at M6, I tried to jerry-rig a camera mount on to my Octo, hoping to get some really cool shots. But it proved unsuccessful. With no real way to secure it, my iPhone kept falling and misaligning. I gave up trying after the first round but kept thinking throughout the day that I was missing some great action.

When I got home and did some minor repairs to my Octo, I kept thinking, how can I create a secure camera mount without ruining the aesthetic of my blaster?....

    I came up with this!

Haha! My new camera has a front facing LCD so you can see yourself getting shot. MuWaHaaaaaa!!!

Next War, I will get some awesome 'KillCams'!!!

    It comes apart too.

    ... I'm working on a protective shield.

That is awesome, can't wait to see some vid's. It's great getting a wicked shot even better when you can see it over and over.

I don't know if it would make good friends with a singled titan or not, but it sure is awesome

LOL. Singled Titans don't know how to make friends with anybody... maybe converted Super Soakers.

Probably, but I don't think I'd would actually use much of the native sound in the final edit.

Plexiglass is AKA acrylic. This stuff shatters SO easily from singled titans/4b's/supersokers and basically any high powered gun. Id suggest using some polycarbonate AKA Lexan MUCH MUCH MUCH (over 9000x) stronger

The Hero cams are quite good, and reasonably priced, but the resolution is a little ordinary

Can those glasses with a camera on them withstand much impact?

Clunk you can get them in full HD.

GoPro’s HD Helmet HERO is the world’s highest performance wearable 1080p HD video and still photo camera. Professional quality 1080p / 960p / 720p HD resolutions record at 30 and 60 frames per second (60 fps in 720p).

I think the camera they use in canada is the Hero 960, which doesnt have 1080p.

Bulletproof, i think for a nerf war they should be fine. Would be pretty strong i think.

    I would not think so.
It's a gimmick device not designed with impact resistance in mind.

Yes i think your right. I've seen a video where the guy who was wearing them literally had them shot off, they even played it in slow-motion. They wouldnt like being dropped thats for sure.

The GoPro Hero cameras have a clear water proof casing which would hold off afew darts. i'm sure it would become a target.

You really want to run around for a day with a helmet on your head?

Wouldnt be nice, and would be heavy.

Yeah, I was going to include in my post about that.

It would be good if you already had one and only used it for a short amount of time.

Hey guys, just read all your posts. At M6, Angel had the Go Pro Hero helmet. It is incased in a very strong shell designed for shock and impact. I did think of it as a target and aimed for it repeatedly but I don't think I ever hit it. It is full 1080p HD. Angel was the only one who wore it. He did wear it all day. And just as an aside, Angel is a dead shot with his Doomsayer. He got 2 head shots on me as I was running probably 50 feet out.

We also got turns wearing the spy cam sunglasses. There were 3 pairs rotating all day until the batteries died. But they were only 720p. They were strong enough to take dart impacts. Unfortunately, when I had them, it was still in the early rounds. I was still getting my feet wet so I didn't hit very much or last very long per game. By the 4th or 5th round I started to catch my stride but by then the spy cams were on someone else.

$299.00 for the full HD camera.

$179.00 for the basic HD Hero 960, no 1080 resolution.

You should record a war with that. I was thinking of something similar too, but having the lens on a set of glasses.
