So many variables when it comes to the right weight for a dart.

Air blasters and springers would need different weighted darts you would think?
When i got crazy ranges with the TS, i thought theres more in this. So will try find the best weighted dart for the TS.

When i test fired today, the dart you see went the furthest, which weighs 1.4grams. A blue foam dart with a sinker is 1.1grams.(Not pictured)

I'm also thinking with the new darts i'm waiting on, there will be more surface area for the air to slam against, other than running the length of the dart itself before making contact.
A solid foam will weigh abit more, i'm not sure, but the next dart down in weight is a biege foam snap cap which MakeItGo sent me from canada amongst some others.

This dart is even shorter than the blue foam dart pictured, and weighs 1.0gram, so 0.4 off the other one. That dart would have been good to test, for it fits petg like crazy and the darts just pop out.

Once my foam arrives, i'll try some different weighted darts, and will find the best weight for maximum distance. I'm thinking 1.6-1.8grams might be a good weight?

Anyone done any tests with darts to see which is best?

Just for Triple shot springers thanks.

Mate, I've already uploaded a very comprehensive set of dart weights. How they perform in Springer/Air blaster - you'll have to ascertain that yourself, through testing in your own gear.

    My calibration set:

    0.67g - single washer
    1.00g - double washer (2 lge)
    1.16g - triple washer (2 lge and 1 sml)
    1.30g - small sinker
1.50g - double washer and nut
1.76g - small sinker and washer
    2.16g - split-shot sinker
    2.33g - split-shot sinker and washer
    2.80g - lge sinker

Make yourself up a set of a few different weights, mark them, and range test them mate. That's how I discovered the perfect weight for each blaster I've modded in my arsenal. I then make darts to suit, and the quantity depends on how often I think I'll use the blaster. eg: I have around 400 x 1.00g, and 300 x 1.30g. The heavier darts work perfect in my Longshot's, while the lighter darts work in Stampede's, AT's, Magstrike's etc. Then I have some heavier darts for Titan etc, but I generally only keep 50 or less in my stock, as they're just for shits n giggles.

NB - these are the weights of my darts, and may not necessarily reflect identical weights if replicated.

    Cheers,

    1.3 grams

Nice scales btw. Do you just weight individual darts?

I weigh 10 at once, and get the average weight from that. Allows for a few discrepancies from the kitchen scales dealing with miniscule weights.

It's not just the overall weight of the dart that counts. You also need to consider the weight distribution front to back.

I.e. A sil tip dart or streamline spreads the weight over a large area compared to a weighted snap cap. Hollow foam will also perform differently to FBR as FBR will mean the dart has more weight in the rear.

Best thing to do is make a calibration set for each blaster and see which ones work best.

It's also worth mentioning that a guns performance can change over time so if it's been a while since you re-lubed your blaster, you may be finding you get better results from a lighter dart than normal.

    Great reply Oxy thankyou mate.

Yeah i did this thread solely for the Triple Shot, nothing else.
I should have stated that from the start, sorry lads!

When i get my barrels, i'll make a selection then and post the results.

What you said about front and rear weights was what i was thinking about yesterday. Will do ones with weights right on top, and also melted into the tip so its flush with the top.

Ok, so far i've found that a 1.4gram dart is great for a maximum distance, but for flat ranges it could be abit heavy.

With the 1.4 i reached 215ft angled, but only 139ft flat.
    I was expecting between 140ft-150ft.

I will do a another flat range test with a 1.1 gram dart. I think that will go abit further.

Try a 1.2g dart mate - you won't be disappointed.

I've found best performance comes from Snap Caps with 00 sinkers.

Can't do range tests yet.. ): And the tips literally get blown straight off. If I hit a wall, box, anything, at 25' with my HC, PAS which only has stock spring, it just comes straight off, most of the time in my direction, as it bounces off a wall.

Can't wait for the foam from you, Boosted, no more tube foam!
