Yeh mate, as random guy has previously said, length has quite alot to do with range and accuracy on both formats.

As for the ideal length, trial and error is the key. Admittedly, some of the mod tutorials around the net are pretty spot-on for length, so I'd recommend going a few inches longer, testing it, and cutting the barrel back inch by inch. This also depends on the situation, and the specific blaster. With a coupler, it's probably easier to just have a couple different length barrels, and range test them. But with something similar to an octo-shot or Doomsayer, the first method is probably your best option.

From my experiences, shooting with a shorter barrel with my inline clip (cut off about 2 inches, it's now about 6.5 inches) gave it better ranges. So like random guy said it was the friction.

I had to keep cutting down my old NF's PETG/20mm conduit breech because the darts didn't have enough power behind it to leave the barrel.

But with my Air Tech 2000, going to a foot long barrel from 3 inch made the darts (heavy tip silicone darts) go from about 60 ft to 90ft. There was an issue with some darts splitting in the middle, but that's for another question lol.

There's also the issue of practicability. The AT2K phuonguyen sold to me only had 3 inch PETG barrels because it didn't have rear loading capability, and it made for easier reloading.

Anyway hope these anecdotes will help you.

BiGW's upcoming toy sale has the Whiteout NF for approx $8. So far as I know, no more info on the other stuff.
The other blasters are the Longstrike, Deploy and Maverick, so far as I know. (YAY no Recon!) Singapore's got the Longstrike and Maverick.

Hey I have a problem with my long shot guys I recently removed the ar's and added a second spring (recon I think) and removed the black locks from inside, but now my gun won't shoot as far as it did stock :S I think it is because the darts don't get pushed far enough into the bolt to build up pressure but I'm Not sure...

Anyone else had this problem? Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean. I followed the instructions for air restrictor removal in guides Pretty well....I'm fairly sure it's how my darts sit I. The bolt/barrel because when I Pushthem back into the barrel after loading they go twice as far. I just need to know how to get them feeding far enough...

Adding a second spring, and removing the AR won't cause the issues you're talking about.

For one, I'd suggest educating yourself a little bit more with the terminology of blaster's, that will help other's offer suggestions for your problems. You can't push the dart back in to the barrel, as it sits in front of the clip.

Secondly, I'd also suggest you check the placement of all the parts. It sounds like something isn't in the correct place, or aligned properly. While you've got the blaster open checking everything, maybe take a couple of detailed pic's of your internals, and post it back in this thread. I'd be fairly certain this will definitely help to fix your problem.

Also, are the dart's fishtailing madly, or just getting poor ranges?

    Cheers,

Okay thanks guys. Yeah sorry about how I'm wording thinks I'm trying to look after my baby brother and niece at the same time and not thinking straight. To answer your questions no the darts aren't fishtailing just getting poor ranges, and yrs I removed the dart tooth in front. I removed this piece because the write up I was following told me to do so.

I think it was over on nerd haven. Now that I think about it the write up was probably a full Bree h replacement, making the dart tooth redundant .

Yep, guaranteed that's the issue. Perhaps you were following a mod tutorial that included a brass breech?? That would explain why the dart tooth is removed.

If you have thrown it away, I can send you one for free. You'd just have to pay for postage (probably $5 or so). Flick me a PM if you need it.

Have there been any Australian attempts to make the NiteMav/MavFinder/EleMav... ? Whatever it's called.

I'm considering attempting one, just looking around for some input or advice. I've already done my research, but you can never stop reading and reading about nerf mods

Been trying it, got about half way. Two main methods I saw, one where you manage to cram the tube from the NF into the Mav, then another where you chop off part of the NF's shell and glue it onto the Mav.

After thinking over the catch placement and all, I think I'm just going to build a whole new plunger tube for the stupid thing.

Try looking in the available blaster's thread.

BigW has the tactical vests for under $25, but only in-store at this stage (out of stock online).

Also, it would be best if you directed your questions to the questions thread, here:

    Saves cluttering up the forum.

Thinking of grabbing some stuff from dealxtreme, has anyone here had any problems with them?

Cos i don't really want to get shiny new batteries in four months time.

Also does this charger protect against overcharge? The implication in the comments is that it does, but i'd prefer to hear it from someone with experience and english as their first language.

I order from DX quite alot. Depends on what you're ordering as to the wait time. I've had some stuff arrive in 10 days, yet I'm waiting on some flashlight parts - 8 weeks and counting.

You'd be much better off getting a Trustfire WF-139 charger. You'll find it on DX, just search using "wf-139". No charger will guarantee no chance of over-charging with unprotected li-ion's.

I have a question regarding which gun to get next. Having already visited Kmart's toy spectacular and taken advantage of their great deals, I should be set with Nerf guns for now. However, soon it will be my birthday and with my birthday comes the oh-so-predictable birthday present of $30 from my nana and pop whom I do not see very often.

The question is, which gun to get with it? Considering target is offering a few good deals with Specters and Stampedes i have decided to get a gun there, also their toy sale begins soon after my birthday which falls just after the majority of the toy sales end. I cannot decide between a Specter for a sidearm, a Stampede for an Assault Riflle or a Nite finder Two pack so i can perform a spring mod on my longshot.

It's a bit of a conundrum and i honestly think that the people on here should be able to point me in the best direction :D. I'd also like to know about the Specter's performance and if it is a decent gun.
