Nerf Terminology:
1337 speak - Frowned upon on most forums. When A user types with numbers replacing letters. 1337 resembling LEET.
Alu BS - An aluminium Longshot Bolt Sled.
AR = Air Restrictors, found in the barrel of a gun to decrease air flow. Their removal increases range somewhat, although you need to pad the plunger in order to prevent damage to the weapon.
AT = Alpha Trooper
AT2K = Air Tech 2000, also...
AT3K = Air Tech 3000
AT4K = Air Tech 4000
Ausbow - A +bow using Australian materials
BBB / 3B - Big Bad Bow
BBBB/4B = Buzz Bee Big Blast
Back-pressure tank - an air tank which is actuated by a small amount of air pressure being released from the tank, causing a rubber/plastic stopper to be sucked towards the back of the tank, creating a passage for the air to exit from the front of the tank. eg: Hornet
Ball Valve - an actuation system for air tanks. Has an open and closed position. Closed allows the tank to fill with air, open allows the air to be expelled from the tank. eg: Hydro Cannon
Bladder - an air vessel made of rubber - inflates like a balloon. eg: Magstrike, Hydro Cannon etc
Brass Breech = The replacement of the bolt and barrel with brass in a clip-based gun, leading to a perfect dart seal, along with less friction for the dart; vastly increases range.
BBUMB/UMB: Buzz Bee Ultimate Missile Blast - a slightly smaller 4B in terms of tank and shell size.
BBMM - Buzz Bee Mega Missile
Check Valve - also known as a one-way valve - a device that only allows air to travel in one direction. Normally connected between a pump and an air tank, to prevent the air from flowing out of the tank back to the pump, and to atmosphere.
Coupler - A PVC fitting used in attach different pipes / barrels. These barrels are fitted into the coupler, and can be removed at any stage for easy transport, or other benefits.
Dead Space - Area inside a blaster where air is wasted and not utilised in firing the dart effectively. Any space between the dart and the power out put.
Direct Plunger - A system which delivers maximum air output. What is difference between a Reverse Vs Direct? There are many articles over the internet for you to find.
Dremel - Often used as a name for all rotary tools but is actually a brand name.
DTG = Dart Tag Blaster's
EAB = Expand-a-blast: a reasonably rare nerf blaster.
FF = Nerf FuryFire
Hard Tank - an air vessel made of plastic/pvc etc. eg: Titan, 4B etc
HC - HandCannon OR HydroCannon
Inline clip - Similar to the RSCB but rather in a strait line. Decreases dead space but makes the blaster front heavy/ unwieldy.
Integration - When two blasters are combined two make either a 2-in-1 blaster, OR Removing the internals of one blaster and installing it into another blaster's shell
LAHB - Lego Atlantis Harpoon Blaster, a Buzzbee Big Blast with an alternate paint scheme.
Loser = A bit of an unusual one, but necessary nonetheless. On Nerfhaven, if you see 'Loser', then more likely than not, that person will have been saying 'Sniper'; the text filter switches it to Loser, due to the fact that there are apparently no snipers in Nerf (although this is subject to debate).
LSFG = Longshot Front Gun
LSBB / BBLS - LongShot Brass Breech / Brass Breech LongShot
LS = Nerf Longshot
LK = Not often used, but occasionally used as an abreviation of Longstrike; coined by Chaos-Blades in late 2009.
Mav = Nerf Maverick
MS = MagStrike
NF = Nerf Nitefinder.
n00b - The derogatory word used to label someone who is new to a particular game/forum/server/where-ever. Many people misuse the word, insulting new members by calling them 'n00b's.
The word 'newb' is sometimes confused with this term - 'newb' standing for 'new beginner'. Whereas a n00b means one of two common terms.
1) A new member who is acting stupidly.
2) A member who is acting stupidly, regardless of level and/or experience.
OPV - Over-Pressure Valve - Connected between a pump and air tank. Limits the amount of psi able to be inflated in to an air tank.
Octo Shot - An integration by MakeItGo from an AZDB (Airzone Dart Blaster) & Triple Shot (TS)
Quad Shot - A modified triple shot. This mod takes out the 'triple shot' component of the TS blaster and fits 4 individual barrels onto the turret.
PVAT - Piston Valve Air Tank - an air tank which is actuated by a spring-loaded piston. The piston seals the tank, and when activated, it creates a passage for the air to exit the front of the tank. eg: Titan.
PAS: Pump Action Shotgun - Another rare blaster, shoots balls stock, but when modded to shoot darts, it becomes a high powered, single shot springer.
Plugged Pump - an air pump which has had the OPV filled with glue/removed. Allows extra psi to be delivered to the air tank.
Poly Carb - Short for Polycarbonate often known as Lexan.
Rainbow Catch - A home-made catch designed for home-made blasters.
RF20 - RapidFire 20
RFR - Buzzbee Rapid Fire Rifle
RFSG: Rapid Fire ShotGun - A rare, 12 shot turreted springer, once modded, often dubbed a "Doomsayer".
Reverse / Inverse Plunger - A system within blasters which lesser the amount of air delivered to the dart, it may be beneficial to google this.
ROF - Can be either, Rate Of Fire or Reign Of Foam, the unofficial interstate nerf war hosted annually in alternating states.
RSCB - a dart shooting system made from PVC pipe and fittings used to increase the rate of fire (ROF) of a singled blaster.
Shotgun Shell - A coupler made shell which has 3 or more individual barrels on one shot. This means your blaster can shoot three darts at once.
Shotgun Load - When loading several darts in one barrel to get a 'shotgun' effect.
Singled - When a blaster is modified with a PVC/Conduit coupler in front of the power source so that single barrels may be used. Most commonly used on blaster that shoot missiles in stock form.
Snap - A form of home-made blaster, commonly found on NerfHaven, made using PVC parts and fittings.
Speedloader - When barrels are taped and spaced apart together. These barrels are preloaded and can be interchanged when firing of your blaster. This helps 'speed load' your blaster. This term can also be mistaken for the Lanard Blaster Speed Loader.
Springer = The generic term for a gun which fires darts using a plunger-based mechanism. Examples include Longshot, Recon, Nitefinder, etc.
SM#No = SuperMaxx Series, abbrev. includes SM750, SM1500, etc, etc.
The +bow - A home-made recreation of the highly sort after Nerf Crossbow.
TitMav = Titan Tank integration into a Maverick. (Funny abbrev. for those who find it funny for obvious reasons).
T-bow - Tornado Bow, arguably the rarest of the Koosh series.
TS = Triple Shot
Vacuum load - a really good springer plunger seal, that sucks the dart down the barrel when priming the blaster. Most noticeable in a PAS.
Vortex Blaster - Can be either the highly sort after Koosh Nerf ring shooters series or the new Vortex disk shooters.
Xbow - Nerf Crossbow, often referred to as one of the rarest blasters and is loved for it's large plunger size.
