Re: .
Should be interesting. I wonder what it will look like. I wouldn't be surprised if the boltsled broke even if it 'metal' haha.

You mean like their Alu plungers? Yeah I wouldn't be surprised either...

Re: .
From my Brisbane Nerf Group. We've already had two reverse plunger breaks. Which makes me super skeptical. They still try to put up a 'facade' that it's 1 in a hundred.
However, with two breaking so close to each other, what are the odds?
I think it's their mistake to make an alu barrel too because the alu plunger is hitting on alu, not plastic, so the impact is much greater.
Yes, something will break <,<.

Re: .
Don't worry, its not just you haha. OMW said that their first set of aluminium plungers were faulty. I Do think that the Massacre set is much better and stronger than the aluminium. That may sound strange but that set is much more durable.

Pfft. Selling faulty products. So dodgy of them. I'm pretty skeptical about the 'polycarb' thing too. Sure it's stronger than plastic. However, how long will it last? Some may argue it'll get more range since the plunger is moving fast.
However, at the end of the day, it's a reverse plunger, you can only get so much 'air out' with the springs you put in that it'll max out at like 80ft TOPS.

Re: .
I'd like to see OMW to use their time making worthwhile parts, like air tanks, pumps, brass breeches without the brass, etc. I understand that they cater for new guys but really, reverse plunger guns are disappointing at best.

Re: .
Considering that their market is aimed mostly at the HvZ crowd, it shouldn't be surprising that they are doing mostly RP kits. HvZ is quite low powered, and considering the lack of implementation of eye protection, coupled with the "tacticool" of RP blasters, it makes sense.
Secondly, airguns are for hacks.

Re: .
from memory, when I was doing some BMX parts design a while back, I found that 1 series aluminium alloys (99% aluminium, probably what OMW uses) weren't all that much stronger than PC. the difference is, plastics flex, and while aluminium does too, it fatigues fairly easily hence, using a 1 series alloy in a nerf gun enduring constant collision forces is not such a great idea. so for moderate aftermarket springs, PC might actually perform better.
compare those two to something like 7075-T6 alloy however, and PC and 1 series becomes a joke. The stuff is incredible for an alloy, I've got a pair of prototype stunt pegs floating around among some riders that have endured about 4 years worth of grinding... Unfortunately, making nerf parts from 7075-T6 would probably cost WAYYY too much to be a realistic solution...

Really not that impressed with the OMW stuff in general. Commercially available products should not have failure rates that high.

Re: .
Only reason why OMW is so popular is because they're promoted by the 'big names' of nerfers on youtube.
Other than that, most of our 'opinions' are not valid to the mainstream audience they rake in. I remember posting about it on OMW, then all the 'fans' jumped to OMW's defense. It's pretty funny actually, like a flock of sheep or pack of wolves.

Re: .
Why take the risk buying OMW lomgshot kit when you can reinforce your existing boltsled much cheaper. If your uncomfortable with power tools Oznerfnerd sells the brackets pre made and informer sells orings.

Re: .
if they've actually put though in to it and made the back plate have 3 or 4 screws and made some of the parts thicker where they need it i'll probably get one and see how it goes. on the other hand, I've always wondered why someone with a bit of AutoCAD skill hasn't designed their own direct plunger blaster that could be reproduced. But then again, I guess the initial cost would be pretty huge. I wish I was a little more loaded, I'd do it myself!

Actually,
There is a "big name group" on youtube, isn't there?
Some of them are doing some interesting integration mods, some are just talking it up.
As for Longshot plungers, yes they do fail.
We don't do anything with the plunger in our kit, but most intermediate to advanced experience modders are addressing the issue in some way, using their own methods.
I'm not convinced that an aluminium replacement is the answer, it may lack the flexibility needed.
I don't comment on other peoples products, but just in fun I notice that the kit comes in a "collectors tin".
So in a hundred years that'll turn up on "antiques roadshow" or "collectors" when they suddenly take an interest in pre century nerf modding!!!???

Truth can be stranger than fiction, I've got torches/flashlights 80+ years, some people will collect anything...

From a materials standpoint polycarbonate plastics have greater resistance to heat & impact especially when compared to conventional blaster plastics, only time will tell as to how well it's design and application will fare...

Re: .
It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I'm not buying it though since their products are aimed at HvZ'ers and entry-intermediate blasters.
