Milsim - What do you think?
Had an idea for a me and a few mates of mine going bush for a few days. Take nerf guns, plenty of ammo, and some supplies. Go nuts. Tell me what you guys think and tell me how I could make this work. I am really into milsim and all so I want to make this work.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
Milsim is fun, as long as you don't take it too seriously.
But yeah, I don't see why there's all the hate on milsim around. Personally, I think that if you don't like it, don't play it. If you like it, play it!
Anyway, go nuts, just make sure that nobody gets hurt.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
Milsim is great. Sure, you can't replicate ranges and stuff that you'd get with another milsim sport, but it's still fun to just go nuts in the bush.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
Well technically you can go milsim.
Air Guns - Snipers, and the pump time is like the time to prime the next dart
Stampedes and Vulcans - Your suppressing fire to move up.
Infantry - Just your average Nerf Gun
In the bushes though, stampedes and vulcans = so many lost darts.

Cheers for your thoughts, guys.
We are gonna do it probably come summertime, and see how things go with a one day trial first.
I'll let ya's know how we go.
Shame airsoft is illegal...

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
Yeah man just thinking a milsim would be so much better if airsoft was legal. But I would one day like to go in a milsim, and also don't get lost.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
Just go overseas and play airsoft if you really want to do milsim. If airsoft was legal, Australia would have so many offences it's not funny. There are too many doodlenoggin's in our Aus society.
2007 - Victoria, three 'grown' adults were shooting people walking across the street from the apartment building with 'clear' airsoft guns.
2011 - Here in QLD, they can't import anymore of those 'magnum' pistol blasters into their stores anymore because some idiots went and shot the 'splatballs' around the shopping mall hitting randoms. Now they can't import that magnum pistol blaster into their store anymore. Mind you they were great dart blasters too...
There are probably other incidents I haven't heard of, but end of day - there will always be one idiot to ruin it all, and there are too many irresponsible people here in Aus. Next thing you know it, modified Nerf Blasters will be banned because an anonymous group doesn't play with eye protection.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
Milsim and nerf. That's like two positively charged ion's.
I have tried something similar on a smaller scale, and all you end up with is a really long and boring game. you're better off just going camping, Because all you're going to do in pissfart around in the bush for days in the vague hope of finding someone to shoot at.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
I know this thread was from about a month ago, but I am just saying- if to did objective gametypes, like hold the base or whatever, you could have a really fun game. There would always be someone to shoot at because there are clear choke points where people have to be to play the objective. Just my thoughts.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
If you want "Milsim" to work, it will only work indoors. Outdoors playing in such a large area, you'll loise way too many darts. However, Nerf is meant to be a fast paced game (some slow for the EPEEN battles).

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
The biggest flaw with milsim and nerf is that the engagement range of nerf guns is just too small. Yes even the modified ones. Generally you will be seen before being able to shoot someone, even when flanking.
That aside throwing in rules for grenades and rockets could be fun, however it is hard to do and normally ends up with people looking at a rocket that landed next to them and deciding how close they are to it.

There's always those paper pellet guns from Jakks Pacific Inc. (Max Force), I see someone even did a trigger mod for the Shadow Hawk 100 (but you'll have to google that one yourself)
Make sure you take sufficient supplies and a means of contacting someone should something go terribly wrong too, If you fail to plan, you can plan to fail

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
As it stands, nerf blasters would still be a better choice for milsim, as airguns can get over 100ft accurately.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
If you really want to milsim... just do laser skirmish in the woods. You can get those things to shoot pretty far. Milsim and Nerf won't mix as efficiently as other 'war game' sports. I'm just sticking to speedball type games.

Re: Milsim - What do you think?
Yeah, I've given up on getting a whole bunch of normal players to milsim, it requires a dedicated group.
So, I just wear the tactical gear now, and use standard drills etc in terms of blaster handling/ how to tackle situations.
