In case people are wondering how strong Polycarbonate can be?
Here is an example of a little 'accident' that happened to day.

Car vs Polycarbonate Safety Glasses (use in the mining industry) ...

I used to be an optical dispenser (made spectacles at optometrist) and most sunglasses also use polycarb (although different quality depending on price.)

I one learn t that the polycarbonate that we used in glasses were rated to protect your eyes from projectiles traveling at around 600-700kmph! Naturally I wanted to test this. My boss happened to be a shooter and agreed to take an old lens to the gun range and shoot at it.

The next day he showed me the lens. He had fired a shotgun at it with 00 buckshot at 12ft and the lens had 'caught' all the pellets! I wish I could find a photo of it but I seem to have misplaced it.
Nevertheless if you get shot at while wearing polycarb glasses, your eyes should be safe, maybe not the rest of your head though! lol!

Yeh, I remember reading an article on Oakley sunglasses that boasted the same sort of test. Shotgun with buckshot from around 5m. Personally, I put more faith in my FlakJacket's than I do with any safety glasses.... slightly more expensive though

Here's the Oakley ad from the 90s, I remember seeing it in MTB magazines and whatnot.

My prescription Oakley A-Wires lasted me over 10 years (I've lost count), upgraded recently to Oakley Splinters purely for fashion reasons, the A-Wires are still good, use them as a backup pair. Oakley have always been expensive (even more so for prescription lenses) but definitely worth it IMO.

Haha... Crap, the old M-Frames and the original logo!! Nice find. Yep, I've had a pair of half-jackets for over 7 years, used them at work, fishing, mowing - pretty much every scenario possible. Definitely worth the money. I'm currently using them for work, and have a pair of Flak jacket's that I use for casual wear. They're 3 years old, and still perfect!!

Thanks for the nostalgia trip!! lol

Actually from time time in the optical industry and personal experience Oakley use one of the cheapest and nastiest polycarb for their lenses, not to mention the frames are made from cheep materials too.
    Would not recommend them personally.
