My New Website

Hi guys, I've made a website about nerf guns. Feel free to explore it and tell me what you think. By theway I only started it yesterday so don't expect too much.

Umm what else do you plan on putting on there?

I don't know, maybe more about Nerf but that's why I am asking people for ideas.

Plenty of existing sites out there, some of which are pretty awesome.

If you want to create yours for the sake of it, go ahead.
If you want people to actually visit it, you need to give them something they want. That means you either have to do the same things as some of the existing sites, but do it better than they do; or you have to do something new that nobody else is doing *and* people are interested in. Either way, not an easy task.

Edit: I started Foam Dart Goodness because I saw a lacking in the market place. Lots of blogs did mod write ups, but very few focused on the point of view of the beginning modder. I therefore wrote my posts with the idea that they could be picked up by anyone.

What about giving away free stuff?

I'm sure people would pay attention to you giving stuff away, provided they thought it was worth their while entering. Does it benefit you in any way though?

Well the people would only come back for the stuff... I might be lucky if they read my content but otherwise they would just come for the free stuff.

What content? You need to decide on what you're going to write about before even worrying about views.

All the gimicks in the world aren't going to help you if you don't have decent content. However probably more importantly at this stage, why do you want to do this? Do you just want a site so you can say 'look how awesome my site is"? That's cool if you do, just be upfront with your reasoning and you'll be able to set better goals.

There's already a hell of a lot of pretty questionable content out there because someone thought having their own site would make them cool.

Also sorry if this comes across as overly negative. I just want to make sure you're actualy thinking about what you want to achieve, because you'll be far more likely to achieve it if you do.

I've checked out you're blog a few times Jeo and I only wished there was something like that when I first started modding.
I like lots of detail and photos.

You're site looks not to bad for a first go at it.
Still needs a lot of work.

To me, that site looks more like a holiday ad or something at first glance.
Maybe that is just a 'temp' look for now?
If you are selling something you need a photo of the product, so people know what they are buying.

This is just feed back and I am not trying to be mean or anything like that.

You'll have to change the name of your site as well. Cause Nerf is cracking down on anything labelled as "Nerf". Nerf Mods & Reviews have changed into Foam Blasters Mods & Reviews.

Just don't expect much trafficking if you don't put any effort into it. Do your research before you start your own blog.

What confuses me is why Hasbro is cracking down now of all times. I mean, they could have done it any time they wanted but why now? Its just a little odd.

I think Hasbro aren't really focused on their customer base.
