rscb won't fire Empty rscb won't fire

    Post  cfb_rolley Mon Apr 23, 2012 10:49 am

for my first rscb I decided to try and build a Max Force Maximizer 60 with an integrated rscb clip. I ran in to a snag where I couldn't make the Maximizer's plunger tube fit 15mm PVC, but as luck would have it, if you add some electrical tape under the O-ring, the plunger will fit the 25mm PVC. so I carved the shell a bit to fit the new 15mm PVC plunger tube and finished the integration with the back of the clip exposed above the priming handle for loading. I'm using some aluminium tube that fits streamlines fairly well (slightly loose) as a temporary barrel until I can get some brass. It looks awesome, but it won't fire a dart off. I though the problem might have been the barrel, so I wrapped a little teflon tape around a dart to make it fit better but still not luck. So now I'm unsure if it's just the barrel or if the plunger tube is not big enough, or if there is another problem. any ideas?

Lotsa deadspace.. RSCB's are generally only suited to high-volume plungers like Tripleshots or high-pressure tanks like BBUMB's. Those Max Force plungers are fairly thin, I know the model you're using and from memory it's volume isn't much more than a Nite Finder (edit: just re-read that you've made your own PT, still quite small volume, though).. If you can disassemble the RSCB, plug the back end temporarily, and see if it will fire a front loaded dart. That way, you'll know if its the clip. If not, it might be the seal around the joints. If not that, check your plunger tube seal is working. Trial and error! Nice mod by the way!

thanks, I'll try all that tomorrow. I think I may end up having to convert it to an air blaster somehow. I'm hoping it's just plunger seal of the barrel though.

Make sure the barrel has a funnel, so the dart can feed smoothly.

Also the seal of the plunger needs to be near perfect so all the plunger tube air is be used.

Lastly use a tighter barrel than aluminium tube. Try using 16mm conduit nested in 20mm conduit and a bit of E-tape to fit inside a 15mm PVC coupler perfectly.

It's the barrel, most likely. Seeing as the aluminium is too loose, all the air would escape around the dart, and none would be pushing the actual dart.

I only have some pics of the original internals at the moment, but I pretty much gutted it and only kept the plunger assembly. I'll take some more pics of the rscb setup tomorrow.
