Apologies for taking over this thread, but I wanted to share what I discovered about the inner workings of the Triad mechanism. I bought one that had a dodgy seal, so I figured "Heck, it's $8 that I can put down to R&D..." and went at it with a hacksaw.

Very clever engineering going on under the hood.

The air intake is a rectangular hole that sits on the underside of the mechanism, and interfaces with the plunger tube.

When a dart is loaded, the white, 3-pronged plug (lets call it plug for short) slides back and diverts the air up under the dart, propelling it from the barrel.

When the dart leaves the barrel, the plug springs forward into the recess behind the dart peg, plugging the empty barrel and diverting the air beneath the plug. The air then travels through a U-bend, and repeats the firing process for the next 2 darts.

If you fire whilst empty, there is a small, rectangular hole in the bottom of the 3rd dart tube that vents the air.

Hope that makes sense, and helped satisfy some people's innate need to know how things work!

I too killed a triad to see how it worked, It is the same principal as an inlineclip/rscb. The airflow will want to find the easiest path to "vent", so the shortest path in the chamber, after the dart is fired and that barrel is closed off, the next one becomes the next shortest path. I haven't seen the inside of a ruffcut, but have played with one, and I would say they have the same kind of barrel selecting principals going on.

    Oh, and hi all
