Hand painting help Empty Hand painting help

    Post  Seafood111 Sat Jan 18, 2014 8:03 am

I need help on the best way to hand paint a Nerf gun. What I want is a way to accurately hand paint a detail and both sides of the gun correctly.

P.S. For those who want to know I want to paint the mouth on Borderlands 2 type guns on my Retaliator with an 18 drum mag.

    Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I don't really have much experience hand painting. When I do hand paint, I follow the details (like the raised and lowered sections) that Nerf has already put on the blaster. If you are just painting your own design, I think a stencil might be the way to go. You can use that paper people use to make stickers and such. It is a piece of paper that has a backing which you can peel off and then a sticky side. Then you can print a design you like onto it and just follow the stencil.

    Hope that helps

Thanks, I was thinking about buying a decal but it would look crappy against the raised areas of the gun. I will try making a stencil but the thing I want to paint would be quite hard make make a stencil out of.

If you search Bandit gun Borderlands 2, the mouth of the gun is what I want to paint.

    Thanks, Seafood

Coop772 made a rapidstrike with a 'bandit' theme paint job. LINK

I agree that the mouth might be a bit difficult to paint.

Yeah, I saw that but I was just asking on any easier way to do it so both sides are identical without using decals, but I will just have to try my best.
