Choosing of a Primary.
Hello everyone. I'm pretty new to this site and Nerf in general. I have started off my colection with a Maverick and a couple of other guns, but I have yet to have chosen any "big" guns and choose my primary (Although I got the Recon and I honestly think it could be much better.) I am thinking of waiting until the Alpha Trooper comes out and getting that as my primary, but Target is having a Toy Sale soon and the Raider is on sale for $39. So I don't know what I should do and was thinking you guys could help me.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
You want something that gets good range, ideally has either A) Good ROF, or B) Multiple Shots, and something that looks cool, and one that you can afford. All of Hasbro's latest blasters use the reverse plunger, which results in difficulty modding them, and generally mediocre performance.
If you want a decent primary, go out to ToyWorld, and buy yourself a Lanard Big Salvo. Takes minutes to mod, and with a good barrel/dart fit, you get 4 90ft shots, and it only needs 10 pumps to prime it. Last I checked, they were on sale for $40. Go nuts.

If you're lucky... those 'new' nerf guns that come out will be available next year perhaps? Just an assumption.
But definitely buy a LongShot. Even though Roger hates it to bits... there must be a history behind that?

Yeah Longshot looks awesome. I'm definitely getting that. I think. Should I like search eBay for good deals? Or but from a retailer like Target?

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
You're new here, so I'll spare the usual flame, instead I'm going to tell you that this question should be in the questions thread. On the welcome to oznerf topic.
When it comes to buying a new blaster, don't let people tell you what to buy, read about the products you are interested in and make a decicion based on what you'd be doing with/to it.
It's not like you're buying a house or anything, It's not a hard decicion.
That's my rant over, If you REALLY can't decide between the raider or the alpha trooper, realise that the alpha trooper will be $70 -$90 when it comes out, and it's pretty much a raider with a sheild. And the raider ispretty much a recon with a drum mag.

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
Um. Okay. Sorry. Before I started this topic I was thinking whether this should be in General Nerf or Questions. Obviously I chose wrong. Won't happen again.
EDIT: Oh yeah forgot. Wanted people's opinions, not for them to make a decision for me. REALLY didn't seem like that though. My bad lol.

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
You're in Adelaide, which is good and bad. It's good because you're in the nerf capital of Australia, so you'll get plenty of good advice. It's bad because you have to keep up with the rest of us and you're going to find that poorly modded crap/noob guns(recon) will just see you getting owned.
I've decided to change my advice to give to noobs. Normally, I'd say buy a NF and a decent primary like a triple shot, both easy to mod. Now I say don't buy a damn thing, not one gun. Instead, turn up to Glenunga and watch how we play. Talk to us and have a look at our stuff. Then only should you make a decision.
Oh, and if you think the new guns are some great white hope, don't. Into a world of hurt shall you plunge, one full of hype and reverse plungers.

Winterstrike has a very good point, come out & join in with us, we can give you a preview of blasters you should be looking at getting and you'll see waht real nerf wars are like.
EDIT: I have about 15 or 20 blasters now

Yep. Guess what? Did my first mod yesterday! Lol. Don't laugh. I modded my Maverick. Removed the Air Restrictors and made it so the barrel can come out all the way. Love it.

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
i say raider or longstrike coz they are blue jk
but seriously get one of them or both id say longstrike coz after modding it to the max it is better than a longshot(DARE I SAY) id say and raider because of slam fire and 35 drum

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
Personally i am still tossing between my vulcan or my longshot for my primary, both have potential, but it depends on what style of play im going for, close combat i would think the vulcan would suit my needs better, for a distance strike my longshot (which is more powerful than my bbbb) would be best.

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
i have this way to add a collection of springs that well are usually way too powerful, and when i realized i could add 2 of these, i couldnt resist the urge.
These springs are custom springs.
Some of the spings i have could be used for bicep curls by body builders, hence to load my longshot requires alot of strength and 2 hands on either side of the bolt.

Re: Choosing of a Primary.
i have no problem with the 2 hand reload, it suits me perfectly. i have upped the sprig in the front gun making it worthwhile, plus i will have a vulcan over the other shoulder and a maverick. So in between shots i should have enough options

A raider.
35 darts, clip system, pump action, 2 tac rails and slamfire mode = best gun evarr

Yeah, such a pity is utilises a reverse plunger system.
The moment you remove the AR, that gun's a goner. Right. Say good bye to your raider.
Go on! Don't be shy! It'll miss you, as much as you'll miss it!
Longshot gets my vote. It's far too gun a gun to not be considered one of the best primary weapons in nerf.
Im going to have to agree with him on this one my modded longshot gets my vote as my primary as it has the range and accuracy, plus the darts come out pretty quick to counter people running.
While like the vulcan its too big to be used on ones own.
