Post  Mozart Mon Apr 25, 2011 1:59 pm

I was going to do a write up on this, but I figure it's pretty simply, if there's someone that really wants to do it for whatever reason, it's not hard to figure it out.

So, this is a basic overview of the blaster and what I've done to it. It has an eleven inch PETG barrel, no gaps or anything, so it has to be ram-rodded. I put a little tape around the barrel where it slides through the remaining fake barrel, so it'll stay centered. I really don't like tape on blasters, but you can't see it, so it doesn't matter. I killed the dead space with a small piece of PETG and hot glue. The trigger is reinforced with epoxy putty, although this was mostly because I was bored, I don't think it'll ever break. There are three catch springs, not sure what they are, just random ones I had lying around. On the plunger rod, I have a stock Longshot spring, a Recon spring, a Long Strike spring and a Nite Finder spring. Up the front, I did have a front gun intergration, but it was useless so I pulled (smashed) it off. I now have the.. foregrip? Off a Double Shot. I swear, it fit so well, it's like it was made to go there. Painting is kind of essential, though, as the two yellows don't look so good together. It's actually just held in with hot glue, I didn't feel the need to epoxy it as it looked so clean.

To load the blaster, you have to insert a dart in the front of the barrel and ram-rod it down, which is not practical at all, but I wasn't exactly going for practical. To prime, you just pull back on the exposed part of the bolt sled, which I feel alleviates the stress caused to bolt sled when primed with a bolt handle, as this puts all the stress on one side of the bolt sled. I also cut off the tactical rail, which is why you can prime it like I do, and left off all the little orange bits and anything that isn't essential.

I know Black isn't a good colour to paint toy guns, it's misleading and I just don't really think it's a good idea. This blaster will never see the light of day, so I don't see that it matters. I happened to have black and it turned out f*****g nice.

It was mostly to teach myself about the physics of nerf guns, which it did, I learnt a fair bit from it.

Most impressive dude. Your spring combo is pretty OP LOL

How do you prime it ?

Edit: My bad, misread the info.

He said that he manually pulls back the boltsled from the jam door..

Dude why don't you use the bolt handles? it'll be wayyy easier.

He said that he does it to alleviate stress on the bolt sled. Especially true if he hasn't reinforced it.

Yes.. but would priming the bolt handle with 2 hands even out the BS?..

Wow what are the ranges on this thing? Looks and sounds like quite the beast! Love the forgrip

And yes, Xoenz, you're right. Cept you still end up doing some damage to the boltsled. I cracked mine a little bit on my yellow LS. Needs to be epoxied... but that LS is still in pieces.

    Cheers!

Well, I think I said that using the handle puts a lot of stress on one side. Mostly, I only ever had one side of the handle in because I was working, testing, working, testing, so I just eneded up priming it this way instead. I like that it's a lot sleeker this way, as well. Bolt handles look like shit, lol. Springs are pretty good, wish I had one spring that came to the same power, but it doesn't really matter. They don't rattle around, which is good (:

Using two hands would, but that'd mean you'd have to rest it on the ground or your leg to prime it.

Cheers Echoes! Ranges, I really don't know, lol. Probably 80-90'. That's a complete guess.. It goes through Nerf cardboard boxes (: Lol.

Well.. If your looking for a spring that is equal to those combined, and you are currently hitting 85-90 feet.. Look into Black Tactical's V2 Longshot spring.

Oh and i don't two 2 hand prime it that way, i rest it against my stomach and do it that way, but with my Shotgun grip coming, i won't need to do all that.

Well, I just think that way is crap, no offence. Different strokes for different folks, hey? Shotgun grips are awesome, in the sense that they even out the preasure put on the sled while priming. Like I said, this isn't built to have high RoF or be really practical or anything, it was a learning curve.

Yeah, I may get in on a BT group order in the near future, if I do another Longshot.

Yeah, I think I will do another one, brass breach and a shot gun grip. That would be a hell of a lot more practical, hahaa. Plus, shot gun grips are just so cool.. I mean, you even feel cool using it.

Yeah, whatever man. Glue tip Stefans of snap caps. I think there were a couple that went clean through both sides of the box. I could be wrong.. Going back a while.

@Mozart - I'm actually really impressed how you've integrated the double shot's 'grip' onto the longshot. It looks as if it was store bought! It's a little disappointing that you singled it though. If your boltsled broke, there is a way to repair them.

    Still quite sexy though.

Thanks man! I would have done a brass breach and modified some clips, but I can't find any good materials here.. Like I said earlier, it was just to learn about the blaster and air output and what not. I'll do another one with a brass breach to accept clips, but I hate bolt handles, they're so ugly, so I need to think up a nice shot gun grip to go with that. Man, I appreciate that, it really does look good, huh? Didn't even use epoxy.

It would go a lot further than 90ft I reckon. If it's going though boxes I would say 100ft+

That grip is just ingenious. I think I might use that as the shotgun pump for a longshot, I'll put some rails for it to travel on..hmm. That is a pretty nice job, kudos to you!

Thanks man! It's so comfortable. Compared to anything else I've sewn on a Longshot, especially. Man, if that works, let me know! I thought about it, but you'd have to sacrifice a fair bit of the grip to make it slide.. Longshot draw is about three and a half inches, that's a lot of grip to sacrifice, unless you have another way to do it?
