How do you download them and how 'ilegal' is it?

I've missed some TV episodes that I want to watch.

Haha, so naive. I applaud you being a model citizen. However consider this, the number of people who have pirated something compared to the number of state and federal law enforcement resources, quite simply you will never be charged nor prosecuted. I have good LAN party friends who have no less than 50 terabytes of illicit material on their file servers and they've never had the Federales or his ISP snooping around.

    TLDR: No harm in downloading.

Have a look at WikiHow for a very simple article on how to torrent, it is the most popular method for downloading stuff like TV shows. I recommend you use utorrent (the torrent program) and isohunt.com for finding your torrent files.

Actually i've had a written warning from Universal Studios from downloading on of their movies and it gave me a 3 page warning that basically said that if you continue to download this shit, you may be charged up to $100,000

Yeah, guys at my Dad's work have had emails and letters sent to them about downloading stuff.

I guess they were just unlucky.

I'm sorry but that's quite hilarious and also unlucky. It is true the Movie Studios have attempted to track some of their leaked releases, typically these methods are only implemented on pre-release or at-release leaks of feature films and computer games, I suggest some common sense in that department, that said, it's COMPLETELY unheard of when downloading TV.
