Sydney War - Lansdowne Reserve, Bass Hill - Saturday 3rd September Empty Sydney War - Lansdowne Reserve, Bass Hill - Saturday 3rd September

Post  Echoes Thu Jul 21, 2011 5:26 am

Who: Echoes here, getting back into the war organising.

When: Saturday, 3rd of September, 11:00am to 4pm.

    Where: LANSDOWNE RESERVE, BASS HILL.

Navigate to 62 Lucinda Avenue, Bass Hill. There's street parking right outside the war location

    General Rules & Guidelines:
    • If you are hit by a dart in ANY part of the body, you are OUT. Call out "HIT", like paintball and return to your respawn point.
    • If your gun is hit, you are OUT (Gun Hit)
    • If you hit someone and they continue to play, call them out.
    • Don't cheat in general, it's a game of tag.
    • Don't argue with the person who calls a hit on you.
    • Report to one of the organisers about a possible cheater and we will monitor them to see if they continue to do so.
    • Eye Protection is a must, you only have two eyes, try to keep them intact!

Thanks to Littlebro as some the rules stated above are his.

    Blasters and Melee Weapons:
    • Melee weapons are allowed IF it is made from very soft foam. If you are to meet or sneak on a player and you have no weapon, just place your hand on there shoulder to say I’ve got you. There is no barreltapping.
    • Plugged weapons and blasters with bike pump replacements are banned.
    • Homemade blasters are banned.
    • Please, for the love of god, don't bring a matte black blaster. If you don't have a blaster that isn't matte black, borrow one off one of the attendees.
    • Again, matte black blasters, or any blaster with a realistic looking paintjob, are banned. If you are unsure, consult me for further details
    • Use common sense when considering engagement distances, don't fire point-blank to the face or neck.
    • Due to some testing we did at the last war, the Nerf Titan is banned in all instances. At this point, the ban is not negotiable (this has nothing to do with the incident that occurred, for all those who are about to ask).

    Schedule:
    11:00-11:15am Briefing
    11:15am-1:30pm Nerf
    1:30-2:00pm Lunch Break
    2:00-4pm Nerf

    Food:
There's a maccas just up the road from the war area. A maccas run will be in order. We'll probably need a car full of people to go up and do a mass order. Bring money for your appropriate meal.

    Game Modes:
    • Team Deathmatch
    • Capture the Flag
    • Free for All
    • Pistols-only Variants
    • VIP Escort
    • Search & Destory aka Counter-Strike's "Defuse" maps aka Plant the bomb.

Games will be 10minutes in length. In the case of TDM and FFA games, teams will have 5 minutes of respawns after which, will be Sudden Death.

    DART HIRE
Details for Dart Hire are as follows:
    • Cost of dart hire for this war is $10.
    • Paying me $10 will get you access to the box full of darts, and allow you load up your magazines/ammo pouches at the beginning of each round.
    • My darts will be marked with the letters "SFW" - Which stands for Sydney Foam Warfare. I reserve the right to take any darts that bear this marking. So please, don't use these letters if you want to keep your blue foam silitip darts
    • Please take care of these darts. By take care of, I mean don’t fire them directly at solid surfaces with your massive blasters. We suffered a serious number of breakages in the 2nd of July war. I spent the rest of the night mourning the loss of each and every one of them (all 468 of them)
    • While these may not be your darts, a proper dart pick up would be much appreciated.

Confirmed Attendees: Echoes,-mirsho, Psychosis, Vavoom, thekungfunerfer, Synergie, Synergie's +2, Genacon, MisterJens, Fatchoman, Bakabill, Bacara, Bacara's +2, Tony
    Maybes: Bacara's +1, Psychosis' +2, WV17, Vavoom's +1, Xoenz, Tony's +1

Holy crap, 468 damaged Informer's darts!!?? What glue were you using to bond them by the way because I saw quite a few darts with the tips came off?

Also just a suggestion, maybe add "No blasters painted in black or dark colours are allowed, unless bright coloured tapes are applied on them" rule?

The tips came off because people were doing exactly what I told them not to do... fire their titans at trees trunks right in front of them. Also I think one of the people there broke at least 100 of them because he kept triple feeding them (didn't know how to use his raider)

It's the superglue that does it. Thing is when I'm firing them at home out of my LS, they're fine.

That rule is there, but I might put it in bold.

there was only one kid actively using a titan...

you need to enforce proper dart sweeps this time dude, last time half the ppl didn't even bother to sweep.

Yeah... too busy shooting people who were picking darts up.

Dart sweeps are going to be something I'm really going to hammer in to you guys. I shed a tear for each dart.

Yeah, I get that alot in wars too.. I had to tell phuonguyen to stop shooting his dick barrel'd big blast at the tree because he was destroying the stingers I had made.

That or you just ban titans or big blasts so less likely to happen. How do you play our wars? At our wars we mark a designated area of play.

Titans are banned now. They're done and dusted.

We have a designated area of play, but it isn't marked. How would you mark it?

I probably do it the most invasive way. At Speed Foam Warfare events I get 6 conduit pieces and mark out where I hammer them in. They are approximately 1metre high each. I then hammer them in a rectangular field and tie garden twine around it to mark out (if you're going to shoot, then you shoot it in here). I also use mini cone markers to make it deadshit simple.

At Woodland events we just use mini cone markers.

Hrmm fair enough. Well more often than not, people aren't running off the "map", they're just shooting off the map at the people running along the edges As a result I don't think I'll have to set any markers.

We only play woodland. Flat ground is a tad boring imo, even with man-made obstacles. Gotta have the terrain!

It's actually really hard to find a 'woodland' map here in Brisbane. I was fortunate enough to find a place where the grass is relatively short and the trees are split nicely apart but in random places. Also accomodates those who have low powered blasters. Dart hire is great since the trees are paper bark, so they absorb most of the impact of the dart. We end up having trees with multiple darts stuck in them undamaged! Haha.

Just out of curiousity, are you allowed to hammer the conduit pieces into the ground?? I thought the local council would get a bit pissy about such things. Though I guess there wouldn't be that much damage to the parkland areas.

Well technically Brisbane City Council don't allow it. However, we've done this for over 10 wars now and no one has reported us (FORTUNATELY). We do this war at a park though, at Roma Street Parklands, they don't allow it.

Well if you're over 12 then I guess you're okay to come. Yes you can wear a tac vest, and you can bring as many blasters as you want, just make sure you can carry/use all of them!. We tend to always carry an spare blaster just in case our main one breaks. I personally only bring two blasters.

Remember to bring eye protection and $10 for dart hire!

Lock me in, if anybody has a singled longshot, i'd love to borrow it. I still only have a bloody unmodded recon + a nightfinder with air restrictor removed + rubber bands, pretty pathetic on my half but
    PLEASE
anything i can borrow would be appreciated.
count me in for dart hire also.

Please look over the rules once more as they have been slightly editted. Any changes/additions have been typed in red.

After some research, public transport from Cronulla is definitely an option.

    Count me in!

(Although if anyone from the St George/Shire area is driving I'm happy to pitch in petrol money, just PM me)

Thanks MrJens. Hope to see you there. Might be a bit of a hike from Yagoona station though. Hope you're ready for it

Hey Echoes, nah, Training it to Sutherland, there's a bus from there to Centro and another from Centro to the park. All up, it's about the same as just getting to Yagoona station as regards travel time.
