    Hi folks,

I am new to Nerf and joined the forum here in the hope of getting some questions answered about beginner modding. I've only just got into Nerf and I'm tempted by the idea of aesthetic modding. I've looked up YouTube vids, read a multitude of posts on various sites and now I find myself here.

On looking through your forum I got the impression random questions aren't appreciated and there's some very strict rules regarding what and where to post, which is cool of course, I am now just rather trepidatious (for want of a better word) about where to ask simple / total newb questions about Nerf (ie things like what type / make of paint to use).

If a mod or admin could point me in the right direction that would be cool, don't want to start off on the wrong foot

Other than Nerf I'm into video games, technology, TV and general geekery. Looking forward to getting to know you fellow Nerf fans.

    Hwey guys,
thanks for the prompt response. Okay I will post my newbie questions in the questions forum, thanks for the help. I have searched the forum and although I've found some answers, I haven't been able to find the specifics.

    Thanks for the welcome

    Welcome the forums.

If you're planning to aeshetic modding, you should probably PM sadavi5 or clunk07 for paint jobs.

Please do note that if you are going to attend wars in Brisbane, or anywhere, we have a universal rule where you are unable to bring black matte / dark camo paintjobs to Nerf Wars as we have had many troubles in the past at wars when people bring these type of blasters and the police force attending these and confiscating them.

These are generally for outdoor wars. Indoor wars are fine as it is not in view of the public.

    Hey, welcome to oznerf.

It's a bit of a misconception, we're not overly strict around here, just like posts to be useful/relevant, and placed in the right thread, with appropriate grammar etc. On this note, could you please update your profile with your age.

But, like littlebro said, if you've got any questions on painting or modding in general etc (specifically Longshot/Maverick/Titan/Stampede's), send me an email to:

    clunkweaponsco@hotmail.com

And I'll see if I can help. My style is predominantly woodland camo, but using vibrant colours most of the time. Sadavi5 does alot of steampunk projects, which are of a very high quality. While he would be able to assist with techniques etc, he will be unable to help out with specific brands of paint etc, due to being from the USA.

Anyway, enough from me. Hope you enjoy your time here, we're usually all a fairly friendly bunch.

    Cheers,

    Thanks for the additional welcomes.

I just wanted to clear up that I meant nothing negative with my comment re the strict posting rules. I just read a few threads that were saying posts were in the wrong place and it made me nervous to post my question, so I thought I'd ask first

I have started my first little mod project, it's a Buzz Bee shotgun, I've only half sanded it atm as I need more sandpaper. Might be lame, but I need to start somewhere hehe.

@clunk07 thanks so much for the email addy! If I get stuck I will so be bugging you.
My age? Wow seriously? And here I thought it was impolite to ask a lady that Can't I just fill in "way too old to be playing with nerf guns" and be done with it?

Seems cool here.. loving the positive vibe thus far, thanks guys.

If you're looking for more sandpaper, you might want to try these foam sanding sponges from here:

    http://www.thesandpaperman.com.au/sanding-sponges/

One sponge will do a full Longshot, and I pretty-much go overboard with prep, so they do last a fair bit. You'll still need a bit of normal sheet sandpaper, but these pad's are awesome, and make sanding alot easier on the hands (RSI/cramps etc... I'm getting old.. haha).

Only too happy to help out, so email away!!

There's a pretty good bunch of guys in Brizzy as well, that will no doubt help you out if you require it.

haha - I thought equality negated the old tradition of it being "impolite" to ask a lady her age...

    Cheers,
