    hi all

well i bought my son a stampede for xmas and we're wanting to modify it a little. I've already done the air restrictor removal mod and next on the cards is the increased spring with increased voltage.

we're going to a 6kg spring (or there abouts) and i'm hoping to get 14.4 volts to the motors out of a 2 x 7.2v nimh battery packs wired in series (hence the 14.4v). i'm sure it'll work out well, but the only thing i'm concerned about is the charging of the batteries.

we have a charger for one of his remote control cars that charges a 9.6v nimh battery. on the bottom of it the words read output 12v 300mA. if i understand how nimh battery charging works, the output mA of the charger is the important thing, not the voltage and the charge time all depends on the mA of the charger and the mAh of the battery right? can anyone help us out with this?

    many thanks

ps cool forum - lots of help for modding. will have to get myself another nerf, probably a recon, so my son and i can have a war through the house and terrorise the cat and rest of the family lol

    Hey, welcome to OzNerf 

Looks like you've learned up on modding, I wouldn't know about that battery stuff, but I'm sure someone else does.

Anyway, have fun and well done on raising another nerfer, haha.

Welcome to the forums =). You're another Dad who enjoys the hobby just like alot of other dads who turn up to our wars. Most notably lefty and mavrick man's dad.

At this point, I think alot of fathers are abit reluctant to have a go, but eventually they'll fall into it as well. May see you at wars =). How old is your son? We do have an age limit of 12years old, purely because just incase one of our bigger guys knock them over, it wouldn't be very pretty lol.

yeah i'm just the kind of guy who cant leave anything stock for long - just have a look at my cars and computer. if it can be "improved", i'll do it.

my son just turned 7 (a big 7, taller than most 9yo's), maybe a bit young for war games, but certainly not for ones around and in the house!
