Alpha Trooper: Firing problem. Empty Alpha Trooper: Firing problem.

Post  MRGenie Sun Feb 05, 2012 12:21 pm

    Hi all,

I have a Alpha Trooper (fantastic gun!), but since I have modded it (A.R, spring spacer done by duct tape) it shoots 55 ft 40% of the time, and the rest it does nothing or bugger all (3-4 m ranges, 2 darts come out at one after firing several times), and I was wondering if there was a reason/fix for this problem?

    Thanks,

Yes, I removed all of the locks that prevent the gun from firing at cetain stages. Is there some mechanism that should have been left in?

    Thanks,

Absolutely. There's a lock that pushes a bit of plastic into the barrel as you're pumping it, this pushes the dart deeper into the plunger. Without it, the plunger pushes the dart forwards into the barrel.

It should be this, but I'm not 100% sure

Ahh, the power of a torch....... I found it under my desk in a pile of lolly wrappers after it flew out.
Ranges are consistent 60ft...... pretty good!

Thanks for bringing that to my attention guys.

55 ft flat, 70 ft angled, the 60 ft was on my deck (the deck is 60 ft) with slight angle (5 degrees).

If you put a better spring in their, you could possibly break the 75 ft mark!

Get a correct length spring and you won't have a problem.

If you can find a correct sized spring from your local hardware store then by all means, go for it AND let us know.

The reverse plunger blasters need very specifically sized springs and have very fine tolerances. OMW are OK, the AT is just more finecky than others.

    Why thank you very much!

You can also find it in my signature.

While I can't comment on the OMW kit, I can tell you that my kit (while it fits all the reverse plunger blasters) was made particularly with the Alpha Trooper in mind.

It is my favourite RP blaster, and that kit works very well with it.
