Must haves for a Nerf collection? Empty Must haves for a Nerf collection?

Post  Kaine Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:24 pm

First off, I wasn't sure whether to put it here or in the General area, since it is a bit of both, so if I'm wrong correct me please. Also, if one already exists (did a search but couldn't find one) the a link would be greatly appreciated.

Now to the point: As someone relatively new to Nerf I have been wondering, what are the staple foam blasters for a "decent" collection?

I'm not exactly after the best blasters of all time, just the ones, that a collection/arsenal would not be considered as such whilst lacking them.

So, what do you guys/gals think?

Probably a Longshot, but we won't be seeing any more of them pretty soon, so grab one while you can.

No collection is complete without a Spectre or Maverick and a Nitefinder (or other good single shot). I'd agree with the AT and LS as well.

It's a bit of a difficult question really, as an arsenal and a collection could be considered as different to each other.

If you're chasing an arsenal for war playing, then you'd have to look at what type of wars you attend.

If you're looking at a collection (like myself) then I'd have to say buy everything you can get your hands on...

The bag I take to games contains...

    Stampede
Raider (could easily be an Alpha Trooper but I really don't use it that much since I switched to a Stampede as my main)
    Longshot
    Nite Finder
    Barricade

Longshot and Magstrike, so much fun and modding can be had with these two. Just remember to buy more clips! =P. Those are all I use at wars now.

I'm trying to avoid doing that, being more on the Compulsive side of OCD leads to more dollars spent than is really desirable right now. More looking to acquire a sizable arsenal that would get me through any war barring any stock blaster war.

    So far I have:

    Stampede (1st ever Nerf gun)
    LS
    Longstrike
    Raider
    Vulcan
    V-Nitron
    V-Vigilon
    Sonic Recon
    Maverick (Yellow, 2xWO, 2xGU)

I plan (so far) on getting:
    AT
    Rayven
    RFSG
    and maybe a Barbarian.

Not particularly fussed over the air tank blasters though.
Definitely have to say that the LS and Stampede are my two favourites so far, and will eventually get brass breeched when I get around to it.

Arh fair enough, well for wars I guess it depends on the war and game modes really.

IMO personal taste on a non-OCD side of things the Stampede and Vulcan are very fun and can do some crazy mods to them.
Just a simple battery mod is fun with them. Range sucks with AR in but still fun.

Rayven, they are nice light gun but need a voltage upgrade for sure and a few other tweaks.
AT's are nice (Raider have a better priming feel IMO) but the 18 round drum is very nice to have.

It really depends on which way you want to go and personal taste.
What I would suggest is go for a look search on Google, Trool the mods section of this forum and and YouTube
Check out all the guns you plan to get and see how they can be modded.

All just suggestions but maybe that will help you decided what you want get next to suit you : )

Personally, I'd opt for making an octo-shot, over getting a RFSG, unless you've really got your heart set on one. At least the TripleShot will cost you a fraction of the price of a RFSG, and a lot easier to source.

The Barbarian is a decent blaster as well, and modded is very competitive.

    Must haves?

    Something that hits far
    Something that hits fast
And, a compromise between the two.

    For me that's a <Classified>, a stampede and a brassed longshot.

Thanks for the solid info, I have a taste for modding and I like to make stuff work more effectively, hence the "no stock wars" proviso.

    Cheers,

I can source at least 10 of them for $30(each) plus shipping from America, would that influence the RFSG vs. Octoshot recommendation? (That might sound like I'm being a bit of a smartarse, but the question is genuine)
Thank you for the heads up on the Barbarian, definitely going to get one of those now.

Yeh, as long as the shipping cost isn't too bad, it definitely puts them in front of an octo. Although, you'll get better range out of an octo.

When I was importing the RFSG's, I was paying around $65 per blaster in shipping and import taxes...

The biggest issue is the rotation mech in the RFSG. To make it reliable, you really need to sacrifice two blaster's to make one good unit.

So if an octoshot has more range than the RFSG what does the RFSG have in it's favour?

The RFSG has 12 barrels like Swatsonia mentioned. In my opinion, it's a sturdier blaster, and requires a lot less reinforcement to the shell. My preference is with the RFSG, but that's just me.

Thank you very much for all the information and assistance. I may as well get two RFSGs and single the one that will donate part of it's mechanism.
Should be a good lesson in modding at the very least.

The most affordable blasters and are also effective will have to be the following:
Longshot: Good range potential and rof
Tripleshot: Massive plunger volume and accurate
Nitefinder: Well, its just so AWESOME!!
BBUMB: Great ranges and easy to mod.

Of course there are others but these are probably the best in terms of range potential (for beginners)
