Got introduced to nerf from a friend who just bought a Vulcan. I actually bought a Longshot first, but after seeing the Vulcan in action, I had to have one. Then I found out about modding and discovered an increased rate of fire was possible for the Vulcan by increasing voltage/batteries. This is all good I thought, but batteries still need replacing or recharging, so I decided to go a different way.

I installed a male DC bulkhead plug into the gun, wired it internally to the battery terminals, and bought a 9-24v selectable voltage plug pack from Jaycar. At the cost of portability, I now have a battery free Vulcan. With the 24v selection, I have tripled the voltage and assumably, the rate of fire,(up to 540rpm!)

Cost: $40 total for plug pack and adaptor, instead of $100 for 6 rechargable D's and recharger.

The Longshot is next to receive more work, and both guns will then undergo painting. As an experienced model painter and detailer, these should not only look sweet but perform to match!

That's really cool. I kinda want to be able to turn up to an indoor game and plug my blaster into the wall now.

Thanks for the comments. Got a friend now interested in getting his Vulcan modded for battery free operation, (will still work with batteries), so I'll take some photos when I work on it and post them here.

Nice, sounds like an awesome gun to use as a mounted machine gun to defend a fort in an indoor war! Careful with using voltages higher than 16v tho, the motor will most likely fail on you.

    Hey mate welcome.

I was going to use the cabled voltage upgrade for the Vulcan but I just never have time these days. I was also going to use a beefed up version of a USB missile launcher to have the Vulcan set up on so the operator can sit in a safe spot and drive it using a laptop.

There was also plans for a nerf tank but it only got as far as drawings. It would have been awesome to have a Titan and Vulcan automated on a mobile platform..
