Suitable Retaliator Spring? Empty Suitable Retaliator Spring?

Anyone found a suitable spring to put in the Retaliator? Could i simply add a NF spring, or will I have to source a custom one? cheers.

    Hello,

Jeo a member of this forum recently placed a NF spring in one of those bad boys, he had to do some dremeling but he says it was worth it. So yeah basically combine the springs. Here is his tutorial:

    http://foamdartgoodness.wordpress.com/2012/08/07/nerf-retaliator-ar-removal-spring-upgrade-and-dead-space-removal/

(Hopefully no mods or admins have any problems with this?)

    Cheers ^_^

NiteFinder was the best thing I had floating around. Biggest problem is the catch itself as the spring has to clear it. So even though it's a direct plunger, you're still quite limited on the outer diameter.

    c386 doesn't fit.
Swarmfire does but isn't as strong as a NF.
Spectre probably would fit with about as much work as the NF, but it's way shorter.

You could probably find something better that fits, but given how hard it hits with the NF spring and how many of those I have sitting around, I'm pretty happy with it.

For those who are interested in looking for something better...
    Stock Retaliator/Rampage spring
    OD - 17.8
    ID - 15.8
    Length - 100

    Plunger rod ID - 14.4
Plunger tube ring ID - 23.2

Max compressed length of replacement spring - 23

wow nice work jeo, I was going to open up my retaliator tonight to get measurements but that saves a lot of effort. I noticed that during the firing cycle the plunger tube slides forward and creates a dead space and also the PT has a smaller I.D near the breach to (I guess) to slow down the plunger. I thought of blocking the track that PT moves on but not sure if that'll cause a jam or something.

Moved this topic to the Questions Forums. Thanks.

I'm quite surprised that alot of people have been buying the retaliator over the rampage though.

Actually, once or if I get a rampage, I might do a test whether if you cut down on the plunger component of the blaster to make it 'lighter'. Therefore, the plunger will move forward faster and push the dart out harder.

I just bought both. After using them both I definitely prefer the rampage noe. And I think you could cut the plunger rod down so long as it stayed aligned in the plunger tube and didn't tumble.
