Nerf Shields

Hi everyone!

I have heard of people buying/making Nerf shields, but I was wondering if anyone here has. I'm currently thinking of making a replica of a Boomshield from the Gears of War video game to use as a Nerf War shield.

Here is a picture of it:

Now you may be wondering, "What the hell would a shield need spikes for?".

Well, in the Gears Of War video game, the Boomshield can be stab into the ground to use as portable cover.

Pretty neat, huh?

Anyways, tell me or show me what shields you have created and/or thinking of making.

I think it would be a whole lot of work for aesthetics, but it would look AWESOME!

I realized it would take awhile.

Painting is no problem for me. I'm great at it, especially dry-brushing!

I painted my nitefinder with citadel spray, its sooo expensive

Yeh that's the bad thing with citadel paint. Good quality though.

nope... i could build one though!

Some of my friends said that a shield would be cheating, but then again why don't they just make one?

I know why would you not want a awesome shield?

Be mindful alot of wars do NOT allow shields and those that do usually only allow you to pair it with a single shot pistol. Just make sure you write "SHOOT THE GUY WITH THE SHIELD FIRST" in really big writing on the front incase some people arent using there brain and they need help figuring out the obvious...

Please dont make me explain sarcasm to you guys... Anyways save yourself a few bucks and dont bother doing it. Or invest the money in actually modding a gun. After all if you've got a gun that can shoot further then anyone elses why exactly do you need a shield?

your right if you've got a good gun with good ranges then why do you need a shield?

its not about that.. its also strategy..
having someone with a shield allows people to reveal their position and open up
also having shields provide cover for someone behind them if they can do it right..
Imagine your friend had a shield and you wanted some cover to move to another area,
They are also good distractions.. putting down a shield to provide cover for friends? obvious the design would have to be decent sized etc..
Shields put a whole complete new gameplay in it..

however i do agree you shudnt spend alot on one.. as you can spend it on other stuff.. but its good thinking.

I think shields should be given some love. I've made one from the lid of a large plastic storage crate, a couple of rubber tie-down straps, and some assorted nuts and bolts. I gave it a coat of my own trademarked "Tactical Black" and have used it in a couple of wars, and who-knows how many backyard skirmishes. Mine also has a folding support strut, so you can "deploy" it, and use it as a fortification. I can operate pretty much any gun in my arsenal, along with the shield, but for reasons of fairness, I usually stick to the Nitefinder when using the shield.

Hey these holidays I am going to attempt to make one, after I do I will post pics in this thread.
I am contemplating what colours to paint it, any ideas?

I reckon the shields should be made from cardboard so that BBBBs and stuff can break right through them Haha. Where as the 'less' powerful guns won't be able to penetrate it... Kind of like Barratt sniper versus a 9mm pistol in real life haha.

I think you should paint one with crazy thin black and white stripes on the outside, so it distracts attackers. That would be pretty cool. Or maybe a really trippy hippy tie-dye pattern on it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't like shields. They're ruining the game. They basically make you invincible which is no fun. You shoot people in Nerf, not hiding the whole game. It's meant to be about guns, not shields.

I suppose. But then again you could use them for games where you replicate police, or SWAT.

Do we have to use the word SWAT, it's so american and boring(yes really). What about tachtical asult group? (really got to learn how to spell and do good english speak.)

Back to sheilds:
I really like the look of the gun sheild on the alpha trooper. You can still be shot but provides you with some cover, plus makes you look cool. And I think I will also make a sheild from a lid of stoage container, however i use one with built in hadle and pehaps a clear plastic window.

Haha Fail, sorry but thats funny, you are telling him off for bad grammer when his grammer was fine, and as you were telling him off you, one spelt to words in a row wrong and then failed with one of your sentances.
tachital you mean tactical and asult you mean assault.

Anyway @Cobranerf I disagree, I think they bring more tactics into the game and more chances to really stealth someone, or like come up from behind and melee them with one of my foam combat knifes.

Unless there's an official product or weapon design from Nerf that incorporated the use of a shield, I'm against it. See Strikefire shields and Manta Rays.

The last thing I want is a team that does the Testudo formation.

I found it funny that while he is telling someone off for 'bad grammer' he was failing english even worse " (really got to learn how to spell and do good english speak.)" and I did not see anything wrong with that other kids grammer.

Anway If we make shields and use them in a game you would have to use a set of rules for them like if it gets hit 3 times you have to drop it.

Yeah that's true. I reckon Nerf will eventually make Nerf Product like that, and somehow make a magstrike type pistol to go with it :D. And for some unknown reason having a inbuilt compressor (now that's just crossing the line haha)

I made a Nerf "Riot Shield" and I just use a Nitefinder with it. Protect yourself, wait till they have to reload and then shoot. Works well in Team based games, but otherwise you wont have anyone to cover your back.

i was having an indoor battle and i just picked up a lid of a box and it was clear so the other team had to hide in the bathroom.

and who was saying he had bad English and grammar. but i use spell check.

and you should paint it like a ghillie suit for stealth so if they start spamming you you can hide or something. and then do some sniping. and put an eye slit in it.
