    GAMES

    Gunslinger Heaven
    Teams: Two or more
    Objective: Eliminate all opponents.
Overview: Gunslinger Heaven is a distant relative of elimination that encourages strategy and daring moves. The game is played with two-man teams, and each player is limited to a single spring pistol. When a player is hit, they remove themselves from the game for 15 seconds and don a flag. When a player wearing a flag is hit, they're permanently eliminated from the game. If a player wearing a flag eliminates another player wearing a flag, the shooter may remove his flag and regain the extra 'life'.
Gunslinger Heaven is best played in a small area with plenty of cover, to prevent standoffs and keep teams from hiding. It creates very short and exciting matches, and is a common game at Nerf Internet Community wars.

    Capture The Flag
    Teams: Two or more
    Objective: Retrieve the opponent's flag.
Overview: This game is generally played with two teams. Capture the Flag games typically don't include permanent elimination, which moves the emphasis from the players to the flags. CTF is uncommon, as rounds tend to be longer than deathmatches and require more running. Multiple CTF variants are played.
Capture the Flag: The classic game. Each team has its own flag. A team wins by retrieving the opponent's flag and returning it to their own base. Often, a team must have their own flag in their base to win the round.
Centre Flag Push: A single flag is placed in the centre of the battlefield. A team wins by retrieving the flag and putting it in the opponent's base.
Centre Flag Pull: A single flag is placed in the centre of the battlefield. A team wins by retrieving the flag and putting it in their own base. These games often turn into footraces when quick players can outrun the opposing team and simply snatch the flag.
Battlefield selection is very important for a fair and fun CTF game. A good field is symmetrical and offers many routes to the flag, for balance and variety. In addition, plenty of cover should be available around the bases to allow each team to effectively defend their territory. Because this game involves plenty of running, the field should be fairly small.

    Humans vs. Zombies
    Teams: Two
    Objective: Be the last survivor
Overview: Humans vs. Zombies is a cross between death match and tag. A group of 'survivors' attempts to survive a "zombie outbreak" by avoiding a growing number of 'zombies'. A small number of players begin as zombies, and the rest are survivors. Survivors can use weapons, but zombies can only tag players by hand. If a zombie touches a human, the human becomes 'infected' and joins the zombie team. Zombies are temporarily stunned when shot, but are never eliminated. When zombies are hit, they must return to a designated base for an amount of time before they can respawn.

    VIP
    Teams: Two
Objective: Defend or tag the VIP as he moves to a base.
Overview: The game involves one VIP who attempts to move from a start point to a distant base. Two teams fight over him: The bodyguards who defend the VIP and the assassins who attempt to take him out.

    PLEASE NOTE
Any futher questions about the event will be answered on the forum, feel free to enquire.
Liability notice to be signed on the day in order to play.

So these blasters provided are 'stock blasters'? Are these darts sili darts or stock darts?

More or less yes. The way we are planning on running these events are in a similar way to a sports event. All of the equipment is tested and maintained by us so that there is a level playing field during games. Using the dart limatations of the "Maverick" class nerf guns then becomes a factor. Stock or Sili darts depends on a few factors, mainly the ability to get Sili darts that are as uniform as possible, that is the real selling point to using stock. If you have any other questins please ask away, we neet the community help in order to make these events possible

Why is it now cancelled? I think this is a great way to introduce 'stock blasters'. Later on, the SS will come along and show 'here's what you can do with these blasters'.

    There's your problem.

I agree as well, if this could get off the ground, it would be a great way to introduce Nerf as a more seriously considered sport. It might just be the hire of the place, but the $15 does seem a bit too high for an hour though.

Yeah it is a little steep for only an hour of participation. Dart hire here in Brisbane is about $10 for like almost 5hours of game play.

No. The way dart hire works here in Brisbane is the organiser brings buckets of darts out and places it in two spawn points. One in each spawn point. Then people just collect as much as they need from the bucket and go on their merry way to shoot some of their foes down. When, each round is finish, people can go and get more from the dart bucket. When there is very little darts left in the bucket 'dart sweep' is called and we return all the darts back in the bucket and repeat. So basically unlimited access to darts.

Doing it 100 per person is silly as at the end of the day, dart sweep will be called and redistribution would be back in the bucket of darts anyway.

We set our fields up like 'paintballing' and dart tag champion ships (minus the inflatables). So most darts stay in the one area.

There were a few different pricing formats we looked at with this one being the most economically sound. The high initial investment into the project means that recovering the cost in the short term was a priority seeing as "blasters" and darts would be provided as well as maintained. The Hire cost was also a defining factor as well as the limit in time and amount of players. Perhaps a longer game period is a little more value. I guess now it all comes down to venue, what are some arenas usually used in these kind of games?

Ok thank for the head up on dart hire in Brisbane because I'm trying to set up dart hire here in Melbourne.

How many blaster's will you be supplying? If you want this to get off the ground, you'll need to be in a position to cover your overheads from the get-go.

Smart business sense would be to run the initial games at a reduced fee for participants, and increase the fees as it gets more popular.

Trying to recoup your investment needs to be long-term.

For instance, I'm attempting to start a community in the town where I live. I've purchased 2 x stampede, 2 x magstrike, 4 x AT and 4 x Maverick. It's not much, but allows for a good 6 x 6, and only having primaries encourages team-play. I'll be utilising a combination of stock and pink foam sili's, and when it takes off, I'll eliminate the stock darts completely.

Admittedly, I won't be charging for blaster hire, only a small fee for dart hire. Littlebro has got the best dart-hire system in the country, and I'll be following suit!!

It's all in development at this point, but if it takes off, I'll offer the blaster's for purchase at a used price. Yeh, it's going to cost me some money in the short-term, but due to the small community I live in, it's a small price to pay to keep the kids out of mischier.

    Cheers,

I only took FA24's massacre idea. It all came from the first epic KG war we had. This time though we'll be splitting teams into 3 teams to keep refs on the sideline (the team which is not playing at the time). With too many players on the field, there isn't as much team play. Maximum 10 per team. I'll organise the teams so it's more balanced.

Thanks clunk07 it sounds like you have put some thought into it. The nature of the games we play lend them self to endurance, precision and team work. We do all rounds using "Maverick" Nerf blasters, some rounds with reloads and others with 'save the last bullet'. We have found over the events we have held in the past that this form of game play allows for a faster paced more cooperative style of play. We have been involved in some larger all day events (HvZ Melbourne ect.) which have been an absolute riot but the quick round by round structure that we go by swapping game modes and rules keeps it fun and fresh forcing people to adapt and change tactics on the fly.

The cost will always be the sticking point. It is hard to make back costs over too large a period of time as the goal is to actually make some money so we can hold bigger events in bigger areas with bigger guns.
