Sup guys, reviewing the Alpha Trooper here.
Okay, so this blaster is actually a really great gun. It looks sweet and it even performs pretty well. It uses slam fire, which is a feature where you can hold the trigger down and every time you prime it shoots one streamline. It's pretty good, if you aren't an arsehole then it won't jam.

You can attach a stock on it, the Raider stock on it is pretty sweet. It's exclusive to Target as far as I know and thats fine for me, cause I like exclusives. It comes with an 18 round drum mag which is AWESOME.

It's a reverse plunger, so not much modding potential. BUT, it acutually shoots AMAZING, for an unknown reason. It kind of carries, but I don't know why.

Great gun overall, if you can find it pick it up.

I believe the reason for it's range increase is a longer plunger tube and better spring. I think I read that either here or on SGnerf.

The plunger tubes are about the same length if you see the comparison picture. The reason is that the AR is different. Instead of having something sitting flat on the surface until a dart sits on it. Believe or not you can vacuum load a dart with the alpha trooper due to the different construct of the AR.

I bought 4 of there in the last couple of weeks for a couple of reasons:

1 - wanted the 18 round drums for other blasters

2 - wanted a few fun blasters to lend my mates

And tonight was my first opportunity to try them properly. I was not disappointed.

Decent power for a stock blaster, especially if you are slam firing. And a rate of fire limited only by the speed of your pumping arm The only issue is the accuracy when slam firing (about as accurate as a drunk, blind man with a fire hose) but with the addition of a decent stock and a bit of control this should improve

Yeah. Great blaster I reckon, unfortunately my local Target has run out. Hopefully they might get some new stock..

If hasboro sold the 18 dart drum magazine as an accessory, they would sell out in no time.
    Best mag ever.

I know. The 35 dart one is way to big and gives you away in wars.
But the 18 dart one is WAY awesome.

Agree, 35 drum mag will always have it's place in the Nerfing world though haha.

I'm not too sure about it outperforming the Raider. A mate of mine has the Raider, and I have the Alpha Trooper. I think that performance wise, they're similar. But, the different AR gives the Alpha Trooper a few more feet over the Raider, from what I've noticed.
Well, that was before my stock spring went kaput. Now everything outperforms my Alpha Trooper :/

I saw someone comment saying don't worry if you got the last one and its beat up, it has pretty sturdy packaging and I was like hmm, I did get the last one and it was beet up.

but yes it does kick the raiders arse, it has a nice clip, good form factor/capacity balance, and stock range/accuracy, I love it.

The AT is the best stock gun in nerf's arsenal I believe.

Also no-one mentioned that the 18-drum holds 20 darts easily.

Possibly one of the best guns to have for HvZ too.

Seph they are exclusive to target.

I got the last one on lay-by at my local Target and I'm really looking forward to having a play when I pick it up.

Yeah, Tassie Nerf pretty much explained everything. They should have some stock, I haven't checked my Target in a while though.

I have not got one, but have heard from others that it is a great gun and I know it is a way better alternative to the Raider the smaller drum is better than the massive drum on the Raider. From what I have heard the Alpha Trooper is quite reliable.

If you slide the cocking leaver all the way forward and all the way back every time, it will never jam. One bit of modding potential this thing does have is it looks very cool when painted:

about shooting, one thing I've found is that it shoots those unreliable streamline quite accurately.

I have never had a problem with the magazine it came with. Not once.

    That's a nice paintjob.

I see some good paintwork come out of the US.

Any chance of telling a bit about how you did it and what types of paint you used? (maybe in a new topic)

I like that worn brushed look when it is done well, which it is often not.

Back on topic, the AT is better than the Raider and as one other posted, the best stock blaster nerf does.

The Raider IS made of nice heavier plastic though it seems.

The steamlines aren't famous for their accuracy.

I'd try some of informers blue snap cap darts and it'll shoot straighter.

I think those ATs were painted by someone else, I have seen them somewhere else a while ago. Couldn't recall who painted the first one, but the second and third weathered ATs were painted by Johnson Arms.
