    The Bullet Points
-Price: $25 two pack at Kmart
    -Ammo Capacity: 20
-Propulsion method: Spring Powered direct plunger
-Ranges: 9 to 10 Meters using stock ammo, 10 to 11 using Nerf Taggers (unmodified)
    -Total Rating: Ambivalence

    Dynamic angle!

Aesthetics The Turbo fire has a nice shape to it. The futuristic Pancor Jackhammer esque look of it is quite nice (a concept automatic shotgun, not a Scandinavian porn star). Some areas of of the gun look quite shabby, especially around the drum. That translucent orange shroud looks quite out of place, and looks cheap as hell. The pump at the front is nice and large, but you have to have your hand on the front of it or you'll hit your hand when you prime it back. The grip is quite thin and small and that piece that comes out the back of it and connects to the stock gets in the way. Very much designed for kids.

Explosive Review: X-Shot Turbo Fire Imgp1738q
    The ugly underside

    Performance
The gun gets standard out of the box ranges of about 9 to 10 meters (as mentioned in the bullet points). The gun suffers from some piss poor accuracy. Some shots go wild, and I believe this is due to the Faux barrel in front. the pump action allows for some fast firing. the drum works with Nerf taggers and sonic darts, but not streamlines and blue headed suction darts. There is very little tolerance for long darts.

Wanna remove the barrel pegs. don't even need to open it

The internals are fairly basic, but have a habit of exploding everywhere and some patience is required when reassembling. It has a decent, almost Nitefinder sized plunger tube and a decently strong spring. The turret seal is spring loaded and has a rubber seal, much better than on a maverick.

The, Oh shit son! what are you doing!
Despite the glowing praise I gave above, there is one massive drawback to this gun, and that is the abysmal plastic used to make it. Its thin, bends and breaks easily. When taking internal photos, I dropped the turret on to the concrete floor and ruined it something fierce. For this gun to handle the rough and tumble on modders and wars, some serious reinforcement would be needed. this point alone takes a good gun with alot of potential and makes it a real disappointment, unless your willing to reinforce the mother loving hell out of it.

Great review Roger. Got excited at the mention of a direct plunger, but unfortunately, materials are a let down.

    No wonder they were 2 for $25 then . . .

So are you planning on modding this? Even just for lulz? I know it's made of flimsy material but I would love to see what you could do with it.

I your willing to reinforce it, replace the plunger tube with a syringe, shave down the bottom of the cocking mechanism (after reinforcing the top of it with a metal rod) this could be a very good gun. but thats only if your willing

Yep, when you break one, you use the other!
Seriously though, I'd still get the pack anyway. I just wish it were tougher, like Nerf blasters are (well, some of them anyway).

Actually, there are uses for the turret - 20x Jialat? The space inside looks like enough to fit a small air tank in...

Plenty of space for an air tank. But a) I need an air tank and b) I need to buy this. Unfortunately both aren't happening soon.

That spring looks useful in other guns...?

If an air tank could be put inside it, the pump action could be used as an actual pump. The only problem is that you will need to hack the shell and considering the cheap plastic this things is made of, not very promising.

Hehe, I also bought a pair today and planned to post some pics but since Roger Explosion has done all that, so I just add a few of my personal observations on top.

Explosive Review: X-Shot Turbo Fire Tf0310
Comparison between XShot suction dart on the left, with Nerf suction dart in the middle and Nerf streamline dart on the right. As you can see XShot dart is slightly shorter, that's why there is little space in front of the dart cylinder for Nerf extra length, more likely to cause Nerf darts to jam inside the gun.

Explosive Review: X-Shot Turbo Fire Tf0810
When disassembling TF, there are 2 screws covered by the pump handle.

Explosive Review: X-Shot Turbo Fire Tf0910
My picture of XF splitted in half. The translucent orange cover for the dart cylinder is halved as well. The front barrel is made of cheap non-coloured translucent plastic, I guess there is the potential of modders minimizing this gun by shortening this faux front barrel.

Explosive Review: X-Shot Turbo Fire Tf1410
Sorry about the blurry picture, i didn't use flash in this shot. Top arrow showing there is this thin metal wire pushing the plunger lock upward. Bottom arrow showing hot glue holding the trigger spring in place.

Explosive Review: X-Shot Turbo Fire Tf1510
This pic showing the plunger assembly just behind the dart cylinder. The black tip in front of the plunger assemble is not even rubber o-ring, it's just a piece of hard plastic. There is a tiny gap in between which potentially can cause air leak.

Explosive Review: X-Shot Turbo Fire Tf1810
OK so at least this is a direct plunger system which should cause excitement in all the modders. This pic showing comparison of different springs I have lying around.
    1) TF spring.
    2) Maverick spring.
    3) Crystal Spring C-756 spring from Bunnings. It is probably closest in length and diameter to TF spring here, but TF spring is thicker and stronger.
    4) Stampede spring. It is longer and slightly wider in diameter but again slightly weaker than TF spring.
    5) Alpha Trooper spring.
    6) Longshot spring.
I don't have a stock NiteFinder spring to compare as it is currently inside one of my modded Longshot.

Presumably then ranges could be improved by replacing that little plastic thingy with a proper o-ring for excellent plunger tube-turret seal. Perhaps yielding 13m ranges?

With a Furyfire you can probably get 50ft from it. And yes, it is on sale for $40 for the double pack.
And now, back on X-shot topic - has anyone noticed a range difference between Nerf suctions and the X-shot darts?

Actually $25 for two blasters, I consider this very good value despite the cheap plastic used. It is a decent size blaster and looks quite good and mean. In fact even if it is $25 for just one blaster, I still think it is decent value. Better than a sucky Recon at its usual price of $40.

I wonder if it's worth buying just for the turret and rotation mech, then build a homemade around it. If it's built right then those two components shouldn't be under any stress.

If the plunger size is about a NF. I'd just reinforce all the stressed parts for it. Throw a BTv2 NF spring in there and see what ranges I could get out of it. I'm going to purchase it even if it's $25.

this would be amazing if a C-836 can fit. But considering it barely fits in an NF, you could do an NF plunger tube and plunger replacement. And just do all the plunger mods to an NF and then chuck it in the TF and adapt the plunger to turret seal.
    -Lets hope that works

Post  Akimbo Assassin Fri Jun 24, 2011 6:46 am

I drilled out all twenty of the dart pegs from the dart cylinder, all that fell out were the pegs, similar to the pegs in Magstrike mags, different to those AR assembly in Maverick. The blaster fires noticeably louder now. I was able to feed Nerf streamline darts in the dart cylinder but they were tight fit as the dart tips rub against the inside of the blaster. Needed to make sure I push the darts right into the dart slots otherwise it can jam inside the blaster. Quite surprisingly most Nerf streamline darts fly about 40+ feet when fired at flat angle (accuracy is similarly crappy like most Nerf blasters firing streamline darts). I couldn't conclude that was due to the removal of the dart pegs or due to the inconsistency of the streamline darts themselves. I will have to try XShot suction darts when I get home tonight. Only fired Xshot darts before the pegs removal and they only fly the stock standard 25 feet at flat angle.

I'm still not sold on this blaster - Urban Taggers say its decent, Roger says its crapola.

Btw, anyone else wonder where there's that nub thing on the top of the blaster? Perhaps they were gonna make it like the other X-shots, a hybrid water/dart gun but then decided against it

because urban targgers don't mod as far as I know, so keeping it stock and only waring indoors and HvZ it would be fine. For us hardcores tho, its a different story altogether.

Great review and opinions in this thread. I've been waiting for a review on this blaster from you guys in Australia since you're the only ones who seem to have it at this time.

I personally see great potential in this blaster. That it comes as a double pack makes it a deal. Especially since I prefer buying 2 of any blaster so I could test and experiment with one before committing to a write-up or video.

The apparent flimsy shell is of minor consequence to me since I have no problem in the idea of reinforcements.

The 2 pluses I see are the direct plunger (as everyone has already pointed out) and that the turret rotates as you prime instead of as you pull the trigger.

However, I do think this would be best modded into an air blaster as some of you have already said. Even with a plunger tube replacement, I don't think it could get over 60' flat (~18m) due to the frame work of the priming rod and plunger tube placement.

Turning it into an air blaster would easily yield 100'+ ranges.

I hope we get them soon.

The part of the shell sticking out just right above one end of the yellow priming rod. It's not only useless it seems like it was a lazy attempt to not change the shell.
