    Hi Guys

After buying blasters for my Girlfriends kid and one for myself a few months back I've developed a bad Nerf addiction. I've done all the basic drop in mods and AR removals to a few blasters, now I have a Retaliator and a Longshot i want to get maximum kick out off. So I was looking at doing sealed brass breach mods to them. I was hopeing to keep using hot glue tipped elite and streamline darts. So i had a few questions before I start distroying internals.

1, Is this the rigth mod to be doing or is there a better way to get more performance out of these guns that I have missed ( i still want to keep basic baster and priming function )?

2, I've been looking at OMW brass beach mod guides, and a couple of others on SGnerf. are there any better brass desings out there, or PVC and brass ect??

3, Spring Strength - How much is too much? eg will a 12kg spring just break the gun? or will a 8.5kg spring give 98% of the perfomance of a 10kg spring so the stronger spring is just putting extra load on the internals?

    4. tools - I figure I need a dremmel and a pipe cutter to do these mods... any advice, cheap places to purchase from ect?

I was going to put a stage 1 OMW retaliator kit in and use the Stage 2 recon bolt slead if it fits in the retalitor. Im not sure what to do about strengthening up the longshot internals yet. I was also thinking I might do a first attempt on a recon as I have a few of them laying around just to get the feel for the steps and processes rather than bugger up a new gun if I make a mistake.

Ok I think thats it for now, Its 10pm and Ive been stuck online sorting stuff out all evening :S Any other advice would be appreciated.

Also ... Where can I get a good spring for a reacon with a OMW stage 1 and 2 internal kit? black tatical?

    Cheers,
    Andy.

    1. The retaliator isn't the best for Brass Breech. However, the Longshot is bang on. You will see darts flying at up to 50metres with the right springs and stuff. (that's angled, but it'll penetrate cardboard with the right darts>

    2. I would definitely use brass for the brass breech Longshot. I would not use OMW as a source for modding materials. The springs are horrible. Which leads me to your next question

    3. The retaliator spring 8kg is maxed we can get at the moment. There are some Black-Tactical v2 Retaliator spring which we are not sure if it works or not. We sell 13kg springs for the Longshot. They are perfect for the stock and the brass breech.

    4. Go to bunnings and buy Ozito Rotary tools is where I would start. It's good, and has a 3 year warranty.

    Thanks Guys

Where can I get your 13kg Spring from Littlebro, and the RM Stainless Steel LS kit if I decied to go that way???

And do you guys have a link to good brass breach mod guide? Ive looked at Ngnerf and understand the pricipals. I wana get the measurments spot on, and I would rather solder / braze a bit of metal for the bolt slead attachement peice, rather than cutting and glueing the stock plastic attachment on to the brass.... seems like a week link with a 13kg Spring :S

I looked at pipe cuters at bunnings... they want $80+ for one.. is there anywhere else thats cheaper..its not like I'm cutting lots of heavy duty pipe?

    Thanks

    Andy.

I'm not sure of the ranges of the 8kg and BT V1, but the BT V2 allows a Retal with AR still in and all locks removed to fire Elite darts a good 28m (~90ft). Obviously without very good accuracy, but the power is ridiculous. The spring load is definitely greater than 5-6kg by quite a bit, although I think not quite 11kg. Maybe around 9-10kg? (comparison done by squeezing OMW 5kg spring, BT V2 Retal spring and Serv 11kg Stampede spring)
On the other hand it could just be SG's 8kg spring, because it is a dark metal colour, is just long enough, and is quite tight on the plunger rod.
