I know this might sound dumb but, what does plugging a pump do to the gun?

It blocks the pressure release valve, witch starts releasing air after a certain amount of pumps. if you plug it you can pump it up to a greater amount of pressure.

If you plug your valve, the gun will explode and kill you.

Good descripton, there's usually a hole in the end of the pump's plunger head that helps release pressure so that the gun doesn't break.
The usual method is that you plug that hole with hot glue.

Only if you are a dick & pump it WAY too many times. If the recommended amount of pumps for a gun is 5, DO NOT pump it more than 5 times. Aj did that with one of Tidge's Supermaxx 1500's and the tank burst.

yes it's true.. he said "don't pump it more that 3 times just as I was about halfway through my 4th pump lol... but I replaced it (no mean feat) so I have redeemed myself

you have to pump the shit out of a gun to make it explode, please bear in mind when pump plugging that while you may not pump it to 'splosion like pressures, a significant increase in pressure can wreck the check or dump valve, along with the more you pump, the harder it will be to open the valve, thus you can break your trigger easily

A bit of both. Myself and inf0rm3r have lost triggers without pump plugging.
