Ok well I'm going to Bunnings tomorrow and I have never really been into modding but now am. I'm buying a heap of stuff and already have really basic stuff, (glues, screwdrivers, alluminium pipe + dremel) but haven't got enough/make modding easy.
So far I want to do mods on NF, Single Tek, Maverick- pretty much pistols but am getting guns like longstrike for Crissy.
So far on my list is:
    Springs,
    Pipe cutter,
LEDs (doing led maverick mod (i.e the request for clear maverick on want to buy thread))
and what else do I need.

If you are doing any electrical work, you should always have a good soldering iron, wire cutters and strippers, a crimping tool, clamps and/or a vice, small/hobby hammer, miter box. That should make your modding easyer and give better outcomes

This is a list of things i find i use in most of my modding:

Sandpaper - get a few sheets in different grits
Sanding block - makes sanding alot easier
Spray silicon lubricant - found in the tools department
150mm steel ruler - also in the tools dept. near the lubes
O-rings - plumbing dept. there are some mixed packs that i found handy
    Electrical tape -
Epoxy putty - found in the painting dept
Round shock absorbing pads - Can't remember where these are found, i use other rubber to pad my plungers
A good sharp craft knife - the one that is like a scalpel and some spare blades

I know that you said you have glue, but do you have hot glue, fast set epoxy, 3day epoxy and hot glue? They all have their uses

    Hope it helps

Changing / adding O-rings improves the seal between the plunger and the tube, this means less power is lost out the back of the blaster.

Lubrication will let the plunger slide down the tube with less resistance, allowing for a higher air velocity.

Get an apron and safety goggles, and a manly scarf,
    Why?
Apron; to keep all the plastic bit of dust and crap will go onto you when using the dremel/rotary tool.
    Safety goggles; derpy derp:)
Manly scarf or hankie or something; to keep bits of plastic and dust going down the neck of your shirt, discovered after extensivley working iwth my dremel for the first time.

Pick up a a neodymium magnet or a ferrite one, or whatever floats your boat magnet.
They hold screw or small springs, and are handy to find lost screws/spring on the floor by running it over the surface area (past experience).

I wouldn't either, but I'm getting it today since Target's summer toy sale, it has been reduced $14
My reason for purchase: Cause it looks AWESOMEST (intentional grammar fail)!!!
Although it is a fail Modding wise.

Actually it has plenty of room inside to integrate something or replace the internals with a homemade direct plunger.

Indeed, look at my rebumb and megacon, easy tanking recons, but I have made homemade DP's too, its not as hard as you think and it was the first kind of modding I did. I made a homemade NF, plunger tube was 2x as long as stock, used 20mm pluming pvc. The only tricky bit is making a good catch.

Well no I don't think it's hard myself. But you are an older bloke. The youngins aren't a confident to just jump in and do a DP.

To true, sometimes i forget I'm an oldie, lol.

I do need to learn to start planing mods befor i start too. most times I just get an idea and grab the target gun and screwdriver and start to pull stuff apart.
That would have to be one of the most Important part of modding I would say. You can have all the tools you need but the most ofter forgotten tool is one's brain.

It's not my idea, a fair few people have tried them before.Essentially you can make +bow internals for it.
Personally I'm mounting a 4B tank in mine like Winterstrike did.

This is a good idea but you can get a good magnet for this from an old speaker. Another thing I would recommend is save the screws from your doaner guns like if you take the tank out of a water gun save the screws and the pump, start a parts bin. You'd be amazed at the stuff some people have made just from stuff from random parts.
