Longshot post-mod problems! Empty Longshot post-mod problems!

Post  whebzy Sun Sep 18, 2011 12:27 am

Just yesterday I took out my longshot's AR's, nothing else. I slid the bolt sled back in place and everything seemed to be working fine.
Until... I screwed it back up only to discover that it got TERRIBLE ranges of about 8-10m, or 25-30ft.
The only problem I see is that when I was taking out the AR with some needle nose pliers, I did a pretty scrappy job of keeping the inside tidy - there are a few small dents and stuff around the inside of the tube. Also, when I try to prime it back, the bolt stops about 0.5cm from the actual back position, and resists being primed forward at the same point every time.
Someone please tell me what is wrong with my longshot?

No one can really tell you what is wrong with your 'longshot'. Unless you provide pictures with what you think is wrong with it. There could be a whole bunch of problems, but we can't really identify what it most likely can be without visual aid.

I think that the little nub on the outside of your plunger tube isn't in the small hole it's meant to go in.

Did you take off the O ring by any chance and forget to put it back because that will be the culprit

An AR'd Longshot will only get a maximum of about 8-10m when fired on a flat angle.

Something I've realised is that taking out the AR without upgrading the spring won't really help a massive amount... but that's just my guess. You'll need to stick a picture up before anyone can really help.

I had the problem, I left it unassembled for too long and the lube dried, I didn't know about lube then either.

That's exactly what it was! Thanks heaps - the next thing I will do is plug the hole in the side of the barrel.

Plugging the hole does help a lot. To prevent the lube from drying try to keep the breach assembly all put together as it would be whilst in the Longshot

    hi guys,

just on the topic of modded longshot problems. I have a pretty weird one (i think)

    Longshot post-mod problems! O3kIo

Basically the clip wont fit it properly because the sliding mecanism that grabs the dart is slightly too far forward (as you can see by that little gap indicated)

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Im sure ive put the barrel back in correctly....

My educated guess is that your plunger tube is too far back, check it's alignment and while it is open take a photo of the insides if you can.

Did you put your plunger head on properly? If you don't align the prongs on the plunger rod with the gaps in the back of the plunger head, it tends to push the breech too far forward. Check the alignment

Did you remove you unscrew your plungerhead at any point to replace/add springs?

If so, look closely at the connection between the two components that you unscrewed. There's a good chance they're misaligned.

That was it! I put a nf spring with the regular longshot one and I screwed the plunger head it with about +1cm on the end. Thanks heaps man!

Ah I've had the same problem before. Glad you fixed it.

If you're going to put plunger padding on it, make sure it's 1mm thick or less. This is because it seems to mimic the 'extra bit of screwing you must of missed' and that problem also occurs.
