Raider magazine mod. Empty Raider magazine mod.

    Post  camo1010 Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:33 am

    Hey guys.

I was sitting around home yesterday wondering what to do, so I thought I might go to big W and check out some Nerf blasters. I ended up walking out with a CS-35 raider in hand and when I got home I opened it up and put it together for a test run.

At first I thought it was pretty cool but then I realised that the mag drum stuck up in the air. So I after closer inspection realised that it was possible to flip it over and have the drum hanging downwards just by cutting a slot for the mag clip on the opposite side of the original one. I'm not sure if anyone has thought of doing it or has done it, but if your left handed it's great.

after the new slot is cut, theres a small ridge in the middle of the feeder lip on the mag. I just shaved it down so the bolt wouldn't catch on it then it was all smooth action.

The only down side however, is that you can no longer see your remaining ammo but I'm working on something to fix that problem.

    I'll have pics up soon

    Cheers guys

I came across this mod in NH and thought I'll be modding one of them for my pump action LS to get it out of the way

There are advantages and disadvantages to that.

    Pros:
Less obstruction to your Peripharal vision.

    Cons:
    Harder/more awkward to prime.
The Victim of your foam is able to see when you need to reload rather than you.

Also reloading may be slightly more tedious.

Yea thats the one. I don't have any issues with mine. It sits a little bit sloppy but thats from the cut i made being slightly too big. I'm going to paint the clear part of the drum and come up with a way to tell when I'm almost out of ammo.

You're still able to insert the magazine in the normal way, right?

I have been thinking about this for quite a long time, just for normal clips, so you can insert them anyway you want, for faster reloading purposes.

Yes as the slot is what the clip lock fits into all your doing is making another clip slot.

Yea the clip will fit forwards or back wards but i suggest deciding on the direction before loading the mag its self. you dont want darts coming out backwards

This mod suits me because I'm a lefty. I wanted it to be a drop down drum simply for the tuff look and I can see every thing in front of me instead of a massive drum.

Hey guys sorry I haven't got pics up yet. I work too much. I will try to have them up this weekend.

I might put up pics of my modded raider as well. I took the faux barrel of the LS front gun after I modded it and carved out the orange ring at the front that holds the barrel in place. Then I just pulled the standard Barrel out and replaced it with the LS front gun barrel. It sits out the front of the raider by approx. 5" and it has the fat tip on it.

I will get pics up as soon as I can guys

I've done this mod to one of my drums, it was intended for my Longshot but it fits a number of different guns quite nicely as you can see here:

    Raider magazine mod. ReverseDrum

I noticed after taking those pics that I didn't push it all the way into the Raider properly, but it does fit I assure you. HOWEVER i've found that the cocking handle doesn't slide forwards properly on my gun - we tried it on my mate's one and it worked okay, so not sure what is wrong with my Raider (it's totally stock, never even opened up).

The mod itself is pretty simple, as this photo demonstrates:

    Raider magazine mod. CLOSE-UP

I hope this helps guys, it's a simple mod and the only gun it doesn't work with stock is the Stampede - the grey part of the drum interferes with the insertion, and the only solution I can think of is to cut away that part of the Stampede (cutting the drum in that area would be a bad idea I think).
