Iron sights for the longshot... Empty Iron sights for the longshot...

Post  MoTHic Tue Aug 10, 2010 3:08 pm

I recently got a longshot and I have too say, I couldn't be happier. But there was one thing that frustrated me... NO IRON SIGHTS. The scope alone is relatively useless, you would be better off getting an over enthusiastic sheep to do your homework for you. And without the scope, well aiming is like trying to cut a rock with a piece of bread...

After removing to longshot's air restrictors and putting the maverick spring in it, it was shooting very well, but aiming was worse that knocking a house down... with your face. I then had a look at the old air restrictors. It was a waste not using them, so I turned them into iron sights for the longshot... and heres how they turned out.

I'm reasonably happy with the result, they could be stronger but there fairly accurate and at least they don't fall off as soon at I shoot the gun.

There not removable, but I can take the longshot apart still. The front sight is just connected to the orange bit that looks kinda like a horn at the front, not any of the yellow plastic. The line up sight at the back is glued to one half of the longshot. The downside to that bit is I can no longer slide attachments onto the tactical rail, they have to be clipped on and off... But all I have to say to that is 'meh'

That looks great! Do you think it would work on a recon?

Yeah skill... it would work on a piece of cheese this mod, all you need is an imagination, lots of super glue and conveniently placed parts that would go together as iron sights

If it is getting stickied why not make it more general, like instead of just iron sights, all kinda of sights.

Hmmmmm.... These iron sights are very good. Iron sights will be more accurate because they don't wobble on the gun. I actually was thinking of doing this.

As with making my own sight, I just finished making a red dot scope but it fails as much as Justin Bieber's hair dresser. So I'm making my own red dot sight instead of buying one.

Well if you've still got your longshot air restricktors then go ahead and use them as iron sight, they will be much more effective than a red dot as with iron sights you can have them much much closer to the barrel then a red dot would be (unless your planning to remove the tactical rail)
