Hey, there, all! The name's Spencer. I'm not technically Australian, in that I'm not Australian at all but actually American... but they both start with A's, right? So... yeah. Um... hope that's alright with everyone. >.>

Ultimately, I tried out NerfHQ and Nerfhaven, and frankly I didn't like either very much. I dunno, they just felt very stiff and unfriendly. I am neither stiff nor unfriendly, so we didn't get along very well. Also I tend to focus on aesthetics, which the Nerfhaven and HQ Nazis pooh-pooh'ed for reasons I don't really understand. I hope to find more loose, friendly people here. ^_^

Otherwise, here's a picture of... stuff. Just recent work to sort of show everyone what I'm about. Bit of an older pic, all of these have been touched up or completed since, but it's a good overview.

    Hey,

    Welcome to OzNerf.

You'll find most of us are fairly relaxed and friendly around here.

    Nice blaster's too, btw.

Thanks for the welcoming! The first (red) is a modified Nerf Recon w/ an added Banzai Crossbow on the clip. The Second (Green) is a Super Soaker Tornado Strike. The third (small gray at the bottom) is a modified and minimized Lanard Rotator X-8. The last (silver and unfinished) is a Buzz Bee Tommy 20... I plan to post the finished version in the Mods section fairly soon.

Thanks, Yeahryan! Took me a while to get it right, but I think I finally found a method that works for me. ^_^

I personally love the Rotator X-8. Out of the box it's hitting 35 feet flat, 45 or more angled. I just did my signature laquering of the chamber interiors to tighten them up a little, got it up to about 40 flat with no major modification. I didn't do an AR mod on it, but it has restriction plates in the chambers which look pretty easy to remove if you have a flathead screwdriver handy... I just didn't wanna mess with it since I can't find these things anywhere and I hate dealing with shipping. Appearance-wise, for my purposes, it couldn't be much better, though the pulldown mechanism looks a little out of place and it's a tad big. Still, probably the best impulse gun buy I've ever had. Well worth the money.

Sounds good, it's definitely something different with the priming mechanism. I've started importing various blaster's from a supplier in the States, and came across the Rotator X-8 the other day, and was immediatedly interested. I'm not expecting a phenomenal blaster, but really just another one for the collection.

Thanks for the info, I'll put this on my "to buy" list.

Welcome to OzNerf mate, you'll find it's a good environment around here, particularly since the new mods were appointed.

I'm keen to see some more shots of those blasters of yours if you wanted to add them to the pics thread.

I really don't like the BB 20 ... but the silver and hosework on that looks great! Kind of 50's b-grade scifi/Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon.

Now that is an interesting approach...

Laquering the inside of the chambers for extra tightness.

A very economic method for a modder with limited tooling.

    Nice one!

Thanks, Oz. I figured out how to mod without access to any of my tools at home since I started in college, so a lot of my modification techniques are a bit economical/'ghetto'. But they get the job done. Plus, they amplify the effects of more traditional mods!

Now that's what I like more ghetto, is good to see that I'm am not the only one from the school of ghetto modding.

And that's some fine paint work and cosmetics you do there my friend, sadly that is one area my skill are very lacking, but I do indeed enjoy the work others can pull off.

    Gooni.

Yep! I have similar vanity shots with all of the weapons in the big pic, but that one looks the most impressive, or so I think. Anything, the X-8 specs will be up way sooner than expected.

EDIT: Yep, WAY earlier than expected. The information can now be found in the "Reviews" Section... best place I could think to put it.
