Real life, thief in the night! Empty Real life, thief in the night!

Post  Psychosis Wed Jul 06, 2011 4:11 pm

One of the perils of working the night shift all by yourself, is the constant feeling that you're never alone. In my case this chilling thought became reality.

On Monday night I came into work at 10pm and got changed into my uniform.. When I finished at 6am, I went to get changed back into my clothes.. Only to find that they had been swiped .

After getting the boss to check the cameras that day, it turns out I wasn't alone "all night". Some drunkin filthy looking bloke wandered in and was spying on me working, and searching around for desirable stuff to steal. After 20mins of this behaviour, he decided to take my jacket & jeans before heading off.

Needless to say I'm more aware of my surroundings now, and make sure I lock the doors behind me after my nicotine fixes.

Anyone else had any workplace thieving experiences? Or workplace related spooky moments?

I was outside prior to his entry, and didn't close the outside door securely behind me.. A mistake I'll not likely make again anytime soon.

Should bring a plugged 4B or a TitanMav just in case. If anyone asks, it's just a toy.

Yeh quite right, I'm always very aware of surroundings, sometimes I think I'm too aware There's so many people oblivious to what's going on around them. Especially those with earphones.

Well, we're supposedly living in a relatively safe environment, so spatial awareness isn't as well trained.

Admittedly, it's a nice passive skill to have, though mine has been getting rustier by being too comfortable with my surroundings lately (too many visual distractions too).
Sound detection hasn't dulled though (I use open earphones anyways, as I prefer listening to music in the background on lower volume).

That bum-thieving scum bag, may his gonads rot.

My GF and i had someone staying at our house who was a friend, and needed help. Came home and he took everything, even a hidden stash of cash for rent. One time i thought i saw him years after, i nearly stopped my car in traffic to get out, but of course, i was unlucky..

I could imagine what would have happened if you caught him red handed..but you never know, might have been better you didnt catch him, who knows what he might have been carrying, internally, and externally..

Sorry to hear that happened. Security at your work is lame bro.

That's if he even has any gonads, he wouldn't if I got my hands on him! But you never know what they're packing as you said, or how many blokes are waiting outside.
