Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Empty Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more.

The Rapid fire Rifle, yeah it does suck. Stock it gets about 7 meters flat. thats no good. I'd better fix that.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr1t
Remove all the screws which i maked with a yellow dot.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr2
    and now you're in

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr3
take out the bar the plunger is on, and remove the metal pin to get at the spring. I got it out with my screwdriver and pliers.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr4
And now the spring. the Rapid fire rifle is the bigger on the left. Its exactly the same size as a Nitefinder spring. The one on the right is a Thunderstrike spring. its exactly the same as a Single Tec spring. So if you got that RFR double pack, you get the right springs in the single tec's. Handy!

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr5
Wind the two spings together, then put them back on the plunger. and reassemble.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr6
when its together you can cut the barrel back to where the foregrip is. This helps with ranges, ebcasue the dart isn't hitting the faux barrel. Try not to do a hackjob like me.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr7
    and we're done...Or are we!

    NO!

lets get at those lousy shells.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr8
Cut a piece of Hep2o Leap the exatct size as the shell. you could also use 16mm aluminimum. they two have the same outer diamater.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr9
Now get that peg out of the shell. I pulled it out with pliers and attacked at it with a screwdriver through the hole to get the rest out. they come out easy.

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr10
Now saw the shell down at the part where it changes diamater

Rapid Fire Rifle: Springs, Shells and more. Rfr12
Then glue the Hep2o into the shell, you may need to file down the shell to get it to fit. The above shell is shown with a tagger in. Having Hep2o leap in the shell means it only takes Nerftm Darts. the buzzbee ones don't fit in.

You have to make sure the modded shell is the same lenght as the stock shell or it won't fit in the clip very well, and jam. and the Rapid Fire Rifle dosen't need anymore jams.

And on the subject of jams, try to pull the lever the whole way back smoothly so it dosen't jam.

This thing now can hit about 11-12 meters with stock shells and 14-15 meters with modded shells. Much better.

I'd be careful adding an extra spring. It's almost guaranteed to break eventually.

Anyway nice writeup, I should try this to mine but I have way to many other guns to mod.

Can anyone suggest an alternative spring to use for this mod? I dont want to have to buy a single tek just to get the spring...

Use the questions thread please. This thread has already been necroed.

You should be able to find something at a local spring manufacturer.

WTF is 'Necroed'?! Why would I ask a question relating to THIS thread in another thread? That seams unecassarily circuitous...

Spring manafacturer? Yeah, I'll just go down to springs r us...

necroed is when you comment on a really old thread with nothing of value to add to it.

You could have posted in the question thread with something along the lines of.
"hi i read the double spring mod fo rhte rapid tec and was wondering if there is a way I can get a good spring for it without having to sacrifice a tek pistol."

It just helps keep the forum clean. It might also prevent you getting a ban.

Go to the yellow pages website and type in spring manufacturer *your town*. you'd be surprised but there a re places that just make springs. That's all they do.

'...nothing of value...' is a matter of opinion. The question is valid, especially in reference to this thread, the original thread, as opposed to a 'question' thread that receives, you guessed it, alot of questions - a thread in which my question gets lost amongst the pile....
Also, the previous post to mine was only a month ago.

I aint going to some manufacturer to buy some random spring that I've no idea about, I've not modded a nerf gun yet before. Which is why I've asked the SPECIFIC question in the first place! What is the big deal? I'm only trying to learn! Someone may post up the answer here and therefore help alot of people mod their rapid fire rifle! However, posting the question, and subsequent answer, in a 'question' thread will not reveal the answer to someone who types 'rapid fire rifle' into the forum search tool 6 months down the track... (FYI this is how I found the thread in the first place)

I'm not having a go at you. But on a forum the opinion that matters is the moderators. I'm trying to save you future trouble. (the post from a month ago was an admin telling someone else off for necroing this thread)

I suggested a spring manufacturer as you said you don't want to sacrifice a tek. Considering that's one of the cheapest guns any other alternative spring is going to require you to sacrifice an even more expensive gun.

Either that or you can check black tactical for a replacement spring.
