A few months ago I got my first Nerf gun a Nitefinder when I got home I opened it up to do a mod I nearly messed it up I took the spring out of it and put it back in then I closed it up without any mods and it seems to have better ranges does any one know what has happened?

A few things might have happened, you might have put the spring in backwards which might ave helped, you might have done up the bolts tgher, there are hundreds of possibilities, Or mabey its just you thinking it shoots further because you opened it, but yeh.

That's... strange I wish that happend to me, now the little crap is only hitting 15 - 20 ft. I'm murdering it and ripping out its insides... For other projects.
