ok fist i am not new but this is my first review so try to keep the flame to a standard cigarette lighter not a crematorium. anyway i noticed no maverick write-ups and it was my first gun ssssooooo.

    Stock Standard:
-for a new nerfer really not that bad. the price is pretty good at around the $12 mark.
-really just a over sized revolver style gun.
-relatively sturdy no sticky-outy bits that can snap off ect.
-nothing special in the shooting distance, but, its very reliable.

    Modded:
-a good variety of available mods
    -looks pretty good when painted
-can reach some pretty good distances
    -stefan usable no re-barreling needed

    bad things:
-it is fairly easy to make the barrel rotating mechanism skip as its not hard to push your ROF to high
    - the rotation mechanism is pretty annoying to put together and for new modders looks pretty complicated not it isnt really from memory its 3 or 4 segments
-is not modded decently they can be pretty crap (LOL @ Killerbunny)

so over-all if your new yeah go for it good painting, modding and shooting practice but really if your going to wars and stuff unless you have a realllllly good maverick then you might as well have a modded quadshot or NF as your secondary

You can make mavs pretty decent with a few mods. Fix the slip clutch, do a drop clip mod and replace the plunger with a night finder one. It does make it into a kind of expensive side arm though.

I wouldn't say they are great for outdoors but they really are fun inside and make for a brilliant time of you and a mate want to play target practice on a TV :p

Good review though, I'd agree with most of your points. For a first little fun gun they are nice.

you need to cut it quite a bit to make it fit. It's a hard mod. There's a pic in this thread showing one http://www.nerfhq.com/smf/index.php?topic=2664.0
