Longshot Spring Kit Empty Longshot Spring Kit

Post  oznerfnerd Sat Aug 20, 2011 9:15 am

    Hi all,

I will soon be releasing a Longshot spring kit.

It will consist of a 15.5kg (approximately) spring, a full size recoil buffer, a slightly larger O ring and some satchels of lube.

Testing has worked well so far, but I'm sure a brass breach will yield the best results. Obviously.

I'd give a timeframe and price, but I made the mistake of doing it too early last time and got both wrong.

I can tell you that I have ordered the springs, and will order the buffers on Monday.

I was considering doing a deluxe kit with the boltsled braces and some PVC "chocks" to lock the stock in place, not sure yet.

So I'm just putting the word out that it's coming, and am open to any suggestions/requests.

    Cheers,

Sounds good man. Are you going to be doing an "extreme" kit with the 20kg spring? If so ill definately be ordering one

    Mate,

I've got a sample for an inner spring as well, but I haven't used it yet.

Truth is, I think it will be too much for the plunger backplate.

I'll get this kit up first, then maybe I'll offer the inner spring as a "use at your own risk, no responsibility for busted blasters" option.

A good replacement for the catch spring is the spring inside the stock. It's inside the place where you can lock and unlock the stock.

    You know me mate,

When it's available, I'll be keen to give it a test-run.

Sounds like a pretty good idea - the deluxe kit. Even though I use the spring from the butt-stock, it would be nice to have a readily available spring for catch replacement.

    Cheers,

I really like he idea of deluxe kit. All the parts to create a well modified LS in one bag, I'll buy it.

    No worries,

Well that's really what the products we do are all about, "everything you need but tools and glue".

When I want a nice modded blaster, I just buy a brand spanker (or pull one out of my cupboard) and mod it straight out of the box.

A "deluxe kit" would be good that way.

    Clunk,

Is the latch spring such an issue?

I've never had any dramas with the standard latch/spring.

I've got a couple of BT metal parts kits, which I'm holding off with until something breaks.

If I have to do further metal reinforcements I'll use my favorite material, laser cut ally.

Probably won't do brass breaches, but may sell the brass tubes in the future.

Yeh mate, I've had several issues in the past using upgraded springs (SSS/BTV2), and the catch/catch spring not being able to hold the plunger rod effectively.

Usually it would prime, and you could slide the bolt forward to close the breech. But any slight bump would cause the catch to release unexpectedly.

I haven't really looked around for a replacement spring, since I started using the one from the buttstock.

But, if you could source a beefier replacement easily enough, it would be a handy addition to your other products.

    Cheers,

Crap, looks like I'm going to have to get a couple more Longshot's... the collection is mounting up rapidly...

    LS1 - stock and ssspring
    LS2 - stock and BTV2 spring
    LS3 - WIP - oxy spring #1 + polycarb pump-action grip
    LS4 - WIP - oxy spring #2
    LS5 - WIP - oznerfnerd spring + oznerfnerd pump-action grip

    Frickin' Hell...

    OK,

Springs are ordered/paid for and promised to be here by the end of the week (but they won't be, I'm sure).

Trialling buffer material thicknesses. Too thick affects clip loading in standard breaches.

I'm wary of putting a timeframe on it, but can safely say that it'll be up in the month of September.

I'll probably do the deluxe kit, plus offer the spring and buffers by themselves as well.

I believe the spring is about as strong as I'd want to go in a moderately modded blaster.

It's a nice spring actually, and should offer some competition to those that are already available.

    Cheers,
