Oz Nerf Modification Competition - Round 2 - Springers Empty Oz Nerf Modification Competition - Round 2 - Springers

Post  oxymoron Tue Oct 25, 2011 9:38 am

After the success of the first modification competition Clunk07 organised, we figured it would be a good idea to keep them happening every couple of months.

In order to make the process easier and more cost effective for the organiser, we have decided to choose just one catagory for each competition, rather than having multiple sections to judge. We will rotate these catagories and give as much notice as possible so that you can plan your entry well ahead of time.

The catagory chosen for this round is simply Springers. That means that any spring powered, foam flinging blaster is elligable to enter. It is most likely that the next round of competition will be for air powered blasters and from there who knows. We could even have one specifically for Vortex blasters or cosmetic mods alone. There are plenty of options.

I have offered to organise this round of the comp so I will be the one offering prizes. Since we only have one catagory, there will most likely be a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd depending on how many entries we get. I'm thinking I should be able to make them pretty decent prizes as well.

Judging will be handled much the same way as last time with a judging panel. I have included the full set of rules in the submission thread which can be found HERE

This competition will open for entries tomorrow the 26th of October and close on the 11th of December which should give me time to send the prizes out before Christmas.

Use this thread to discuss the competition and entries etc...

    Happy modding!

I think this a great idea!

These competitions give people an urge to finish that disregarded project or start on a new idea.

Come to think of it, I don't actually have a lot of springers, only a few. I guess I'm more of an air-gun-guy, haha.

    This is a awesome idea!

I might actually have a chance!

It gives me an excuse to go to bunnings with my dad and buy some stuff to make an Octo-Shot!

    GO MOTIVATION!

Oz Nerf Modification Competition - Round 2 - Springers Empty Re: Oz Nerf Modification Competition - Round 2 - Springers

My issue is, does the magstrike count as a springer? Or an air blaster? I personally consider it a springer because the main firing system that actually launches the darts relies on a plunger with spring.
However, its use of a bladder may make it an air blaster... What are your opinions?

Yay motivation! I'll have to come up with something clever now, most of my recent thoughts have been around air blasters.

Whilst not exactly clean-cut, you'd nearly have to class it quite simply as an air blaster.

Air is required to prime the spring, which in turn creates a burst of air to propel the dart.

Plus, the fact that it's got an air pump... haha

    On-topic, nice work Oxy!!

I've decided to limit it to just one entry per person since there is only one category this time.

I've written the full list of rules in the submission thread which I have put a link to in the fIrst post.
