Homemade with all Aussie Materials? Anyone? Empty Homemade with all Aussie Materials? Anyone?

Post  JeremyArifin Tue Oct 09, 2012 10:14 am

Hello everyone! I am a beginner when it comes to homemades. I would like a very easy to make, DIY blaster. I would NOT like it to be an airgun!
A pistol or Rifle, I don't really care...I will be trying to make a hamp, but if it's a spring powered blaster, that would be better.

So I would like a design that is: Easy to make, Easy to find materials and Spring Powered...
    Any Ideas?

    I hope so!

    Thanks, Jezza.

SG makes some of the best home made blasters I have seen, spring powered too.

Thanks. I've been to that website many times hoping for a simple write-up...but the main part of most homemade Blasters that I struggle with, is the Trigger to catch link, or how to make the catch itself.
But thanks for trying to help! =)

    Thanks, Jezza.

It's entirely possible, I've made quite a few myself. Work on a 32mm PVC or 40mm UPVC plunger body with a 32mm bathplug for your plunger and plunger head, and you'll be fine, since couplers and catching systems are all down to a personal choice.

Start with a Snap Carbine, it's the easiest homemade springer imo.

    OK...so I've got a basic design down...
but does anyone know what size PVC fits into 32mm PVC loosely (as in it just fits in, but enough to move around with not much friction.)?

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks, Jezza.

Homemade with all Aussie Materials? Anyone? Empty Question for Evozn

Post  JeremyArifin Wed Oct 10, 2012 1:47 pm

    OK...
Evozn, I have seen that you have made a pump snap, I have also seen your blueprint for it. The main thing I want to know is, What did you make the Plunger rod out of? I want to know what you use as the catching system (What did you use for the 'thing' for the catch to catch onto)?

I hope you know what I mean...

I will be doing the same catch system as yours and a similar body design.

    Thanks, Jezza.

I used the SNAP system, it used a clothes pin and a nail as trigger and catch (Google it) and I use 20mm/16mm conduit or 15mm PVC depending on the spring.

@Evozn: What size PVC did you use? and what spring did you use? If I use 15mm PVC, do you have any Idea of what spring to use, and where to get it?

(I'm asking you all these questions because my Pump SNAP will be based around yours.)

    Thanks, Jezza.

I found some 40mm PVC lying around my spare pipes...The I got a rubber washer that fits it...Will is still work?
Won't it get a slightly higher range due to the larger ID?

    Any on know?

    Thanks, Jezza.

you will get better ranges with a larger plunger tube but you will need a corresponding washer/seal. If you're making a carbine, you will need one size lower PVC (32mm) to make the piston. I used 32mm, so my piston was 25mm.

OK, and what size will I need for the Pump? 50mm I guess?
And what spring did you use, and where did you get it from?

    Thanks, Jezza.
