The 14500's are protected, which explains why they won't function. They won't work in any of the 3 Nerf blasters. I'll have to source some unprotected versions. Thanks for your input, it's had me stumped for a couple of days now.

Protected version should still work in Barricade, but only 2 at a time. 3 are too much for Barricade which may have some protective circuit to shut down the power. I currently run 4 unprotected TrustFire in my Stampede and 2 protected TrustFire in my Barricade (with a dummy AA battery).

I own protected Trustfire and Ultrafire's, and they still won't power the Barricade (with an identical set-up to yours). I've ordered some unprotected AW 14500's, so I'll just have to wait now.
I do run the Barricade with a 9v, under-charged to around 7v, and it is functional for now.

If I might ask, what kind of spring loads are these heavy-duty batteries pulling? I have a 12v circuit set up with 8 x 1.5v AA batteries and it will not turn over the motor far enough. I suppose I should also mention I have a 12kg spring in my Stampede also. Everything is wired up correctly and the plunger rod does move just only a third of the way; not far enough for my purposes.

Should I put together a single 12v battery or three 6v batteries? Perhaps just skip straight to Trustfires?

Swatsonia linked me here and suggested the 12v SLA but I want to know all I can before I pull out my wallet.

Standard alkaline batterie won't discharge enough power to compress an upgrade spring. There's a heap of technical info that I could carry on with, but that's the short and simple version.

Either use Sla, li-ion or li-po batteries, and you'll achieve the desired results.

Thanks for this now I know where to get them! I'll be doing a voltage upgrade to my stampede soon with a BT upgrade spring.

How far would a stampede shoot with 12v and your spring? And what would the ROF be?

I usually get 70-80ft with his spring but i've got 16.4v but that shouldn't differ the range.

70 to 80ft is pretty much the range possible with my spring. The springs are locally made here in Australia, where as the BT springs come from Singapore that's pretty much the difference.

Hi i have a Stampede i got the think its the 11kg Australian made spring for it. Is this 12v Mod enough to power that spring without losing ROF?

    Smidy,

the last post is almost 12 months old. We have a questions thread for this type of thing.
Please refrain from necroing old threads unless you have useful/relevant information to disclose.

But, to answer your question, a 12v SLA will handle the 11kg spring with good ROF. I wouldn't be surprised if the spring you're using is actually the spring that Servulus sells, which is a really top product.

    Cheers,

I should point out that on my eBay page i list this thread so that people may know how to power up their Stampedes for the spring they are buying. Please keep this thread active, just incase people who buy the spring do ask questions here. From here we can simply point them on to the other Stampede battery mod guides.

But this is a good way to get them in the door.

That's fine Servulus, but the necro rule still applies, whether linked to an ebay account or not.

Could you put a link to your ebay page/store on here by any chance? I know quite a few people have asked where to get your springs, and I can't remember your ebay handle.
