Bad water in Adelaide

Over the past week, I've noticed water I put in my bottles to go to uni with (tap water through a pura tap) is going bad after only a few hours in the darkness of my bag. Smells like an old fish tank. Drank some last week and I was fine but now I'm vomiting furiously after just a sip this morning.

Anyone else in Adelaide noticed this? If you wanna help save Adelaide, put some water in a bottle, leave it for around 5 hours, and post here with your location in Adelaide, and whether or not your water went bad.

Well I had a bottle yesterday that I just finished. I live in Hope valley fro what its worth.

I highly doubt its a problem with the water. More likely you had mold in the bottle, especially with it being summer now.

Also, a nerfing website is a curious place to take this, but i guess you just need peoples' experiences.

Yeah I brought it here for the thriving Adelaide populace.

I /think/ it's my bag or something, it having happened to 7 bottles in a row in a week.

get the filter replaced in your pura tap, that is where the problem is most likely being caused.

Err yeah, the questino is how long have you had that filter tap? Because they're mean't to be replaced every now and again because shit can get stuck in the filter anyway. Which over time the filter will become ineffective as it is clogged with so much tap water residue that the shit inside will get into the proper water.

Put in a brass breach and some more o -rings? This should fix the problem. . .

Its not always so much physical filtration but chemical as well. If it is a carbon based filter the carbon will start to leech the impurities back into the water if it is old.

Yeah, that was my initial though. Filter's only 3 months old though, weird huh? Ran some more tests, the water from the tap itself seems okay. No idea what was actually causing it to go bad in my backpack though.

Me too.

Don't use a puratap they are pointless. The main reason you would get a puratap is because of the trihalomethanes produced in the filtration process. That reason is good but the time you take in the most trihalomethanes is in the shower by breathing. Although your puratap does clean out that crap it's not really solving any problems just filtering filtered water.

I had a bottle filled with normal tap water today and it was fine. It was in a bottled water bottle. Purataps are pointless, they're overpriced and just remove the fluride, the reason gens y and z still have teeth.

Sorry to point out the obvious, but flouride protects teeth. Why else do they put it in toothpaste?

I think you meant to say they remove other minor impurities in the water.

@ TheKhakinator What bottle did you use? It may be the bottle and not the filter.

Here in Adelaide they add fluoride to our water supply, which is why many of us still have good teeth even though our oral hygiene is hopelessly bad. If i look back to my parents generation, there are many that have many teeth related problems, which my generation and the others after mine have not got. This is what Biggles was referring too.

I'm in the hills. Ain't no rainwater though. Our tank has a hole in it and 7 generations of mosquito so we use mains.

True. Then we have a LOT of generations in our tank then lol.

Your body doesn't need fluoride after you are 6-8 years of age. Main rainwater doesn't have any fluoride but my teeth are fine apart from being horribly crowded.

I'm pretty sure our mains water is fluoridated. Also you have to be careful with really young kids and use low fluoride toothpaste for some reason.

I used to drink rainwater, puratap was because we got sick of having to go outside to fill up the jugs.

Of course, now I am accustomed to regular mains water I don't know why I bother with puratap.

And I think somehow like 5 of my bottles got contaminated because fresh bottles full of puratap water are smelling fine. Weird huh.

I live in the Adelaide hills and i just have a normal filter tap and everything is fine. We also have bore water and I sometimes drink that...I also drank out one of our sheep troughs. Yum Yum
